Mike, man, I can't imagine how hard it was to share that as a parent. Being a parent is the most rewarding and scariest thing we do, you only ever want the best. My heart ached watching that but we are so fortunate as viewers to have you be so raw on camera and show that hunting is bigger than just killing a stud 6.5 yr old. It's amazing how a man with ice in his veins when killing a monster buck, falls apart talking about his son. That truly shows that Mike is a father first a hunter second. I am glad you guys did not edit this out. We as fathers, need to be reminded that hunting is not life. Can't believe I just said that. Another great saga deer down. Wow he looked like he weighed 300 lbs coming through the woods. Congratulations Mike. Ten years ago my youngest grandson came down with juvenile myositis. He’s been in a wheelchair since. Some ruff times he went through. At seventen he has accepted he will never walk. He has become a great pistol and rifle shot. I hope to be able to take him hunting next year. I also started teaching him to play a guitar. He’s learned more in a month than I did in years. Our family prayers are with you and your family. Every now and then there are just some things that stop you in your tracks, and although we often fail to understand the why in those things, there is always a great deal of comfort in knowing that there are always constants in our lives. Thoughts and prayers going up for your son and the doctors and nurses doing his surgery. And to the rest of your family as well. I know all about that tree therapy you mentioned Mike. I have a 4 year old son who’s name is Easton that had spent the first 3 years of his life in and out of hospitals. He is special needs. Born with a genetic disorder called Cri du chat. Pronounced kree do Shaw. He has been lifelined more times than one should ever have to be. Ended up having to get a trach about a little over a year ago. He finally got him into Cincinnati children’s hospital and they have been miracle workers for Easton. He is currently doing a cap trial right now for the next 6 months. If it goes well he gets the trach removed. Spent a lot of hours sitting in a tree stand thinking and praying sometimes crying. But I needed it so bad. Fuel for my soul. Awesome video and buck. Man Mike…prayers for your little boy, your family and the medical team. As a dad of a 2 1/2 year old little boy that has an appointment Wednesday for some issues I know your helpless feeling. You nailed the “Treestand therapy” on the head. I lost my dad in September and have logged a lot of hours in the tree this year mostly with tears in my eyes. I have let deer walk that I would shoot any other year just so I can keep going back. It will all be ok buddy. Be strong for that boy!

Mike, I've watched every single one of your guys' shows and feel like you're family especially after working from home these past 2 years. Family and hunting is my life, as I have 3 sons; ages 2,4, and 5. 2 of them have had near death experiences and all of them have had scares. From major surgeries in the NICU to anaphylactic shock from severe allergies to pneumonia hospitalizations. I promise you that your family come out stronger on the other side of this and our thoughts and prayers are with you to keep you uplifted until you do. Mike, thanks for sharing. I have never commented before, however I do follow you and Jared. We share the same passion, and I respect the sacrifice and work you guys put into your goals. Not many people recognize the sacrifice and effort that is required to own and manage quality hunting ground. My wife and I have been in Iowa 11 years now, purchasing 2 farms. As with your wife, she is very supporting of my passion. They are a blessing for sure. Our children are now grown, however we know the rollercoaster of encountering significant health concerns with our kids. Our son was born with spina bifida with myelomeningocele, he was to never live a week according to Dr's. 15 surgeries and almost 30 years later he is still alive, well and an independent adult. It's important to share these things because we need each others support. Jesus commanded us to lover one another as he loved us as the greatest commandment. He also commanded we bear one anothers burdens. We do that by sharing our burdens, supporting each other both emotionally and spiritually. Your family is certainly in our prayers. Congratulations on a great season and cant wait to see the family videos when the wife and kids are out, always enjoy those.

Mike, there is no greater sense of uselessness than a parent watching their children in pain. Our 34 year old daughter was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in april, With 8 immunotherapies done and 9 left to go, it kills us to see her get so sick after treatments, affecting everyone around her including her husband and two young children. Mike, I can’t imagine the feeling of having to go through what you and your family are with your son. Watching your emotion made me think about my girls, and how I’d feel in that situation. Brought tears to my eyes. I hope and pray the surgery this coming week goes well!

Mike.. I jus want to send prayers to your little man and your family. I know what your going through and it is really hard to talk about these things. Recently we found out my 7 yr old son was have kidney failure and had to have surgery to save what function was left (20%) and thankfully all went well and we're doing good. Mike, we have shared your need and burden with a bunch of us crazy Baptist preachers who enjoy the goodness of God in the woods as you all. Much more, they love family & people; especially young people. Your son is definitely on our hearts and in our prayers. Mike we are all here for you and your family and all come from different walks off life but seeing you talk about your son like this it hits home for everybody. Well be sending prayers your way.
