I got this vacuum a few months ago. Hands down the best vacuum I have EVER owned. Sure, it is more cumbersome to move from room to room, but it gets the job done, and I've never had a clog. It does use a bag, so there is an ongoing expense, but it is essential to control allergens in the household. The suction is amazing. It gets everything up. Most of the other vacuums I've had break and/or lose suction (even with meticulous maintenance) after a few months. 9.5/10 💫 P.S. - I have 2 small kids and 2 cats. If you are a mom, BUY THIS! I'm obsessed.

Good review which I mostly agree with. I got a C1 four years ago & it's absolutely the best vacuum I've ever used. I have no carpet but a few rugs. The suction is amazing. It never clogs & is very easy to maintain. And I love the bags...I will never have a leaky, suction-killing, Chinese bagless again. Miele is German engineering at its best.

I love the bag system. That cannot be a bad feature
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
In retrospect, communicating that the bag system is a negative was indeed too harsh. I think it's better to say that a vacuum that uses bags is a polarizing feature. You're right, many people do like the bag system. It's better for allergies, you don't have to empty as often, and never end up accidentally dumping dust / debris. However, it's also more expensive to maintain vs. a bagless system. For many consumers, if they can save money with a bagless system then that's the option they want to go with.

Every other review said the Classic C1 should not be used on medium to high pile carpets. Perhaps the compact C1, according to your review, is an exception. Could you please clarify. I need something for medium pile carpet and hardwood floors.
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
This is what Miele says (via Amazon)..."Recommended to clean all hard flooring and low Pile carpeting" I think they are probably saying that because medium to high pile carpets can cause excessive suction and make the machine hard to move and actually clean with. In our tests, I never felt like it was a problem on high pile carpets. But certainly some users could. In any case, I wouldn't say those other users are wrong...the C1 is indeed better on low pile carpet and hard surface flooring. However, I think many consumers would find it perfectly reasonable to use on other carpet types as well (excluding shag). Hope that helps!

So it looks like the Miele C1 did well on high pile carpet even though it doesn’t have an agitator brush head. Do you see any disadvantage with it compared to your traditional brush rollers? Or is it as good because of the superior suction?
@ModernCastle5 жыл бұрын
In our tests we certainly did not. It was just as good as high pile carpet as any high end vacuum with a brushroll. One thing that our tests may not show as well is for debris that is deeply embedded into the carpets. However, given the raw suction power of the Miele I am inclined to think it will still be more than sufficient for the vast majority of users. It still remains the best canister vacuum we've tested to date. It's incredibly well put together and a strong performer across the board.

Good review. But why would a bag be a "con"? All the best machines have always had bags. The bagless craze has only come in in the last 20 years or so with the flood of cheap Chinese cleaners. Why would anybody want to have to shake out and clean out a disgusting plastic receptacle, when you could just remove and dispose of a filter bag in the trash without ever touching the yucky contents? And as anyone who has ever had the misfortune of using a bagless machine knows, emptying and cleaning the thing is disgusting, and a death sentence for anyone with even the slightest allergy or sensitivity to dust. A quality machine with a filter bag is the only way to go.
@ModernCastle5 жыл бұрын
As to your question, "Why would anybody want to have to shake out and clean out a disgusting plastic receptacle?" Money. People don't want to buy the replacement bags. And if their discomfort and aggravation at dealing with a bagless vacuum means they save money a lot of people will go that route. That said, I can understand and appreciate your argument here. Calling it a con may have been a bit harsh. For those who don't mind the extra cost, don't want to deal with emptying a dust bin, or deal with allergies, I think there is a strong argument for a bagged vacuum. But if those things aren't important to you a bagless vacuum is a good option for many consumers.
