Thanks for this video. Our son just gave us our old Miele back because it didn't work. I used the knowledge from your video to diagnose and change the power switch. Now I have an old favorite back to clean our cars.

Thanks for the video. Our Meile Flamenco ii has a manufactured date of 2001 which I purchased in 7/2002 for $299.99. I bought it because it was so quiet, and it has never broken down which is great. I had a Hoover and hated it because it was so loud. This vacuum balances on the stairs perfectly too. I was about to buy cheap replacement bags and am glad I didn't after seeing your video.

I recently bought one of these for cheap on ebay to use in my woodshop (couldn't justify a $350 festool). Had to tear it apart for the same reason. Opened it up and not only was there an aftermarket bag, but it was torn AND there was no pre-motor filter. Works fine now, and it's excellent for hooking up to small sanders!

This is a great substitute for a HEPA Shop-Vac like festool as long as you don't need to suck up hot metal this works great

I have this exact vacuum, durable like a Volvo 240 series. Thanks to this video, now I've had it apart and given it a good cleaning.

Thank you for making this video. I have this model, and it is still running strong. Not bad for a machine that is pushing 22 years old. I always use genuine Miele bags and filters in it, and it is super clean inside. Only thing wrong with it is the spring that holds the attachment door open is broken, so it doesn't stay open by itself anymore.

This vacuum and this motor are like an AK in the vacuum world! Our S251 is like 22 years old now handled a LOT of abuse the motor is already a bit rusty when I took it apart. But it still works like a champ and I can always rely on it!

nice video. ive always had a liking for older miele vacuums. they sound so much better than todays offerings. their sound actually reminds me of the sound the ametek motors from the 80s/90s make

Some did have Ametek motors

The suction motor in my Lindhaus sounds very nice too. Man those Rotafil 2 stage motors are so damn pleasant to the ears.

Just pick up ones of these for free. The cord reel was stuck but was able to fix it. Works great but all it needs is a power nozzle. I'm glad I saved it.

I'm surprised Miele would offer a Chinese product.I wouldn't want to tarnish my reputation. Anyways another informative video. Thanks
@PerformanceReviews6 жыл бұрын
+Timothy Connell there's nothing wrong with having something made in China if you have them in quality. Usually that is not the case and we asked them to make unbelievably poor quality stuff. This is definitely the exception to the rule.
@jaywalkra6 жыл бұрын
What you have to understand is that the Chinese will build anything for any quality you ask for (or rather pay for). Because they can make a product as good as anywhere else, but then the cost would be insane and end up more than making it in the US/EU. The only reason "Made in China" is regarded as crap is due to most manufacturers engaging in a race to the bottom.

Great vid as always.

I prefer the old US made Ametek motors because they have such a quiet noise level. I guess it was for miele cheaper to build domestic motors than import motors.

Hi, I know this video is some days old but our S251i broke down today. With help of your video I was able to open it. I see some dark burn signs around a resistor. I checked the internet for an spare motor but did not find some. You mentioned it can be replaced by a better one. Is this also working for the German edition (230V)? Do you have a spare part number for me? Any help is highly appreciated. Great video !
@PerformanceReviews6 ай бұрын
Hello thank you for watching! In the United States we get a completely different parts list than you get in Germany or in Europe. Unfortunately I have no way of getting you a part number for European machine.

I have this cannister vacuum. I recently discovered that the hose connection to the power brush has a plastic ring that keeps the cord in the handle. I have tried to push the holding ring in but can't get it in to "click" to lock it. It doesn't seem like it would take that much force to lock it in. Any suggestions of what I might not be doing correctly? Thanks!

@anniejohnasmr39636 жыл бұрын
did miele ever use ametek motors in their vacuums? or have they always made their own motors?
@davidperry40133 жыл бұрын
The Vortex motors are made by Ametek Italy.
@panasonicvac403610 ай бұрын
I know this is a late comment but yes, that's what the video shows. This model used either a Ametek Lamb or a Domel dual stage motor. It could also use a Domel Vortex motor as well that all Mieles use today.
@panasonicvac403610 ай бұрын
No, they're made by Domel in Germany.

Very informative video! I have the same model, the motor just died today after 18 solid years of use. Maybe next time edit out the boring part where you’re chatting with f-bomb the coworker.

Thanks for the helpful video. I am desparately searching for the rheostat for my S251i. Specifically, its the one that controls the power. I don't know where to find the part. Maybe you have one in your old parts drawer. Please advise. Thanks,
@PerformanceReviews5 жыл бұрын
If it's not available from Miele lot you'll have to find an old Miele somewhere. Unfortunately I do not have one
@mandalitten2 жыл бұрын
The cord on my vacuum was frayed and then there was a spark and it stopped working... I have heard there is a thermal fuse on this, but I can't find anything. Does this model have a thermal fuse? If it is the motor then it is probably not worth replacing since I need both a motor and cable and it's about 20 years old.

I just received this model from a customer and it's obvious the motor is shot. I have discovered that Miele has discontinued a lot of parts for this Vac model. Any suggestions on where to get a motor - Kit, aftermarket or other? Thanks, John
@PerformanceReviews4 жыл бұрын
Well if it has the ametek motor you can order it by the ametek number. really once parts are discontinued since these are all about 20 years old it's time to sell them a new machine.
@slushyhut4 жыл бұрын
@@PerformanceReviews , Thanks for the information. The model number on the motor assembly is an 115923-AB. I can find many 115923 online, but I am unsure if sans AB is acceptable? I would love to sell this woman a new Vac, but she's rather attached and has a budget. keep 'em happy, keep 'em coming back!

I do have a question but not on Miele vacuums. I was looking for a review on a shark rocket but couldn't find one on tour channel. The door to the dust cup hinge broke after a fall. Are they replaceable and if so where to get one. BTW. I love these videos and learn so much. TY
