Thank you for such a great video - brilliant. Instead of the second step of removing the top and front of the machine, I perseverred with using a smallish gauge wire (could use a brake Bowden cable) and a strimmer cord (3.2mm I think) and just rodded the two long hoses. When using the wire I scrunched it up at one end and put it in boiling water before pushing it up the pipe. It clearly was removing the congealed detergent each time I withdrew the wire from the hoses. It did take quite a few goes - maybe 30 mins or so. Then used a Makita tyre pump to pressurise each hose until it was clearly blowing through. All works perfectly now!!! Thank you again for your efforts with such good instructions.

I was a Miele tech for 17 years, but retired right after I purchased the W-1 And T-1. When I had a problem with Twindos cartridge 1, I called Miele for help, but got none! The video section at four minutes in talks about the control circuit board with plastic levers that press on microswitches to register the presence of TwinDos cartridges. This is certainly the source of problems where the machine fails to recognize whether the TwinDos cartridges are in the right place.

@@zengoelectricslimited6744 Actually the Miele tech-support guy I reached really wanted to help, but he was working from home and couldn't send me a diagram Thanks to your video, I got into it and found the Twin Dos #1 lines gelled up! Since I have a stacked unit and didn't want to unstack it, I did some creative problem-solving to clear the line going to the front without removing the front panel. I had a length of garage door-type cable (plastic coated) and used that to make a hole through the gel! Then a trip to Home Depot to make up an adaptor to flush the line with hot water. after about a minute's flush (I saw the water building up in the tub), I reconnected the lines and ran the Twin Dos Maintenance program and it worked! Thanks again!

Hello, I am having a problem with my TwinDos(WCI670). It shows a message that it is empty and both containers are empty, although in reality they are full. If I take them out and put them back in, it washes normally but consumes all the detergent quantity from the containers. When I try to clean it, the process stops and it displays a message that the container is empty. I have done the following: 1.Cleaned all the pipes which were clean. 2.Reconnected them and without attaching the hose that goes to the drum, I cleaned the device with water and it worked properly in both containers. 3.Changed the circuit board(EZL 166) and checked the PT 100 (108 ohm and both were the same). Despite doing all of the above, the problem still persists. Thank you very much for your time.

Our WKH120 developed a fault and upon further investigation found that the rubber 'o' rings fitted to the DOS cartridge receiver units deteriorate with age. They had allowed the detergents from both cartridges to leak into the float bowl sensor area and the DOS control circuit board & loom. I bought new 'o' rings from a bearing specialist and now no more leaks.

Thanks for this really great video. I opened the back panel and could unmount only one of the tubes from the pomp, all the others seem to be stuck really well, did it also take you a great effort to remove the tubes? I’m afraid I pull to hard and break something.

Hi Sander - it does take a good bit of effort to unmount the tubes. However, they are all just "friction fit" pushed into place, thus they do eventually move more easily. I like to use a long-nosed pliers to do the job. If you start with the tube to the rear of TwinDOS chamber 1 (to the right looking from the back) then this is quite straightforward. Once the first tube comes loose, access to the others becomes progressively easier. I also found that on applying pressure your hands can get hurt if/when the tube suddenly releases - it's a balancing act I'm afraid. Keep going!

If you can release the entire assembly then access becomes easier. Both pumps are attached to a plastic box which can be lifted upwards and then backwards. There is a knack involved - there are two lugs at the top of this plastic box which disengage with a little finger pressure. With a bit of experimentation and patience, you will learn the skill.

Great video 👍. Looking at the colour of the detergent have you being using your own brand? I wonder if 3rd pty detergent is more prone to blocking rather than the specific Miele detergent? Just a question if anyone has any knowledge or experience with this please share?

A good idea. The metal clothes hanger was too stiff and managed to damage one of the pipes by penetrating through the soft rubber compound.

Didn't like the idea of using a sharp hanger too much. But even if I was going to use the thick grass trimmer line, I would round off the sharp cut ends with fine sand paper just in case ; )

Thank you for the video. I am having problems with twindos 1. I cleaned out all the lines except the one going to the front. Nothing I cleaned was clogged. I even squirted hot water up the long line and some liquid detergent came out. Before removing the top and front do you think it is probably the sensor? And I want to confirm is the sensor the grey block that both run through from the twindos cartridges before entering the pumps?

Yes, the sensor is the grey block through which the twin pipes run before they hit the pumps. It is an expensive part to replace.

When I was tackling my problem, I wanted to find a simple way of diagnosing where any blockages might be located. Even though it takes some time, I purchased an additional empty DOS container and filled this with water. Placing this water filled container in the DOS chamber (you may have to try both sequentially - first DOS1 and then DOS2), I was able to disconnect a single pipe (let's call this the monitoring point) and check whether the water was getting through to this point. This means turning the machine on and running the "clean DOS" maintenance program. This allowed me to verify whether: (a) Water could exit the DOS chamber; (b) Water was reaching the pump input; (c) Water was exiting the pump output and (d) - don't forget this - whether water was passing along the long pipe between the pump output and the front of the washing machine where the pipe attaches to the drum. This simple logical sequence allows you to verify correct operation at each monitoring point in the sequence. You don't need to use a lot of water - I got pretty good at running the maintenance program for thirty seconds or less. It helps to have a small container into which the free end of the pipe can drain.

If you use this method, then you can also mark the front of the water filled DOS container. When running the maintenance cycle, a small amount of water should be drawn from the DOS container, which is visible from the front of the machine. As long as you can see the water level drop visually, you can be reassured that the pipe and entire dosing mechanism is working fine. If the water level does not drop, then you need to diagnose each step in the sequence above as previously described.

Even after clearing the rear of the machine and the pumps, I also had a blogged long line to the front. This can be unclipped in two supporting positions and disconnected at both ends, then removed from the machine. You can either buy a replacement part (at extortionate Miele prices) or pass something through the pipe to clear it yourself. I used an old metal clothes hanger (including the twisted section near the handle) and this very effectively removed the dried in gunk that was blocking the pipe. I also ran some hot water through the pipe to make sure that it was absolutely clear. If you drain several parts of the system - tubes and pumps - then it can take several runs of the maintenance cycle to re-fill the entire system. I presume that the pumps are self-priming thus even if empty they can suck in fresh liquid. Observing the water level at the front of the DOS container helps to reassure the user that the repair job has been successful.

I had a “Waterproof” error. Opened it up and found that one of the Twindos pump had both plastic hose fitting broken. The twindos detergent had been leaking and collected at the base of the machine. Yup.. Miele could last 20 years they said….

Unfortunately mine still doesn’t work after spending many hours with it. First I only removed the front and reassembled everything without success… Then I opened the back to see how bad the hoses were laying so the did not form a knot … I cleared that. Then I was searching for the “back hose” nr 20” that you have on your list but could not find it:( Before I did this operation I only had trouble with the twindos nr 1 but now both say the exact same thing “not enough detergent “ like it is not pulling it in. The only part of the hoses I did not remove was the last part around 5 cm long that enters into the drum… I was too afraid to remove them but I had a tool inside there gently to se if it was clogged. Very strange now that both stopped working instead. Thanks anyway for your video. My model is wkr 771 wps… Can it be that the rear hose is not there on this model?

Great video! Since recently my Miele is displaying error F0214 when using TwinDos system. Do you know what is this error related to?

From a German source: The error F0214 indicates that a temperature sensor does not detect any or incorrect values. This is the PTC 2 (B3-5). Either a thermocouple itself is defective or the sensor stops working. It is also possible that an electrical connection has been loosened by the vibrations.

From the same German source: Doesn't belong right here, but on my Miele WMG820 (BJ2016) the error F0214 was caused by a defective TwinDos platinum sensor 9 976 602. The sensor is located behind the TwinDos slot. To do this, the machine must be opened from behind. The part costs about 85€ at Miele. (I have come across platinum sensor issues before - the part is hugely expensive)

@@zengoelectricslimited6744 Yes, it was caused by a defective TwinDos platinum sensor. Since the defect was not caused by misuse I wrote to Miele and got 50% discount on the spare part. It actually has two sensors inside (one for each catridge) and I figured out that only 2nd is not working, so now I have one (1/2) as spare. :-) It seems that Miele has problems to keep the quality of the TwinDos in line with the rest of their systems. Platinum sensor has undergone several modifications and it would be nice to have it regularly available at discounted price level, as it's way-to-expensive repair tend to ruin customer satisfaction. @@Marko-zp6gm guys, the platinium sensor is a basic pt100 RTD. At 25 deg C. it mesures around 110 ohms. If you don't want to pay for the overpriced miele branded part & don't care about empty container detection (it will still warn by estimating the dispensing) you can solder a 110+/-1% ohms standard 1/4W resistor (on the wires or on the pcb directly, whatever is easier). Will do the trick !

Thanks for the great video. I did everything according to the instructions, but the following message appears on the screen:"Fit a new cartridge or refill container 2. Monitor wash result" appears, even though 2 containers are full. Any ideas?

Correct registration of the cartridges can be quite hit and miss. Sometimes it helps to turn the power off after inserting the replacement cartridge and then trying again. The machine is not able (in my opinion) to gauge the level of liquid in the cartridge, even though the display may ask for a refill. All it can do is a binary reading - then, after complaining, register the fact that you have changed the cartridge. So - change cartridge if that seems reasonable to you (for example, if the cartridge is empty - or if you have just run a cleaning cycle) rather than believing what the display says, then cycle the power a few times to make sure that the machine registers that a cartridge is present correctly.

If you had previously experienced clogged pipes which you had cleared as per the video, then you could manually check that the liquid is flowing again by temporarily unplugging one of the short pipes running between the DOS cartridge and the pump. You may want to place a low receptacle underneath the pipe to catch the liquid that escapes. It also helps to have a helper inserting the cartridge, ready to remove it once you have confirmed that liquid flows correctly.

One other oddity that occurred for me was that you may need to reset the volume of detergent to be dispensed, using the machine's display and menu. Ours had reset to zero millilitres.

I even opened the control unit and checked the contacts, everything is fine. I restarted to factory settings, but none of the above helped. The message continues to appear after each wash. I also tried your suggestions, but it didn't help either. If you have any more ideas, please share. Thanks!

You may have incorrectly set the menu options. There are two separate sections in the online user menu. One section allows you to let the machine know which container uses a specific type of detergent. The second section allows you to select the detergent to use in the wash and the amount of detergent to use. Unfortunately in my case the four pin white connector cables detached from the plug (cables and plugs seem a bit flimsy to me), They are not connected in the same order as on the other end of the cable. Dies anybody have any suggestions on the pin layout, I do not want to try all 24 combinations without knowing what kind of signal is transported over those cables..

mine is called w1 wrk 771 wps, it looks like the same but it isn't. I have seen others do this operation with clogged pipes... but they only opened the front of the machine and did the operation. I have a hard time figuring out how to open everything really.

Hello Aziz, You are right - it is possible to do this repair from the front of the machine, though I found that out only after recording this video. It is a bit hard to explain how to do this verbally, but I shall try. (1) Remove the top panel of the machine, using screws at the side which may be hidden by plastic covers; (2) Remove the front of the machine - slightly fiddly, including removing the seal on the washing machine drum - see other videos for how to do this; (3) Unscrew the plastic frame holding the TwinDos containers - this entire TwinDos assembly should now come loose (4) Observe that the TwinDos assembly may still be held in place on two plastic legs which are engaged with hooks on the metal base plate of the machine; you need to push the entire TwinDos assembly towards the rear of the machine so that these plastic legs come free from the metal base plate; you should now be able to pull the entire TwinDos assembly through the front of the machine and gain easy access to the clogged pipes at the rear of this assembly. (5) You can then follow the process outlined in the video Good luck!

@@zengoelectricslimited6744 omg☺️ Have taken it appart now… took me some time though. Mine hade spilled disgusting gèle/liquid (brown) all over the left hose and that had leaked to the bottom. Just a bit curious how sensitive the cables connectors are let’s say at 4:25 (thing in the middle)? Cause it has god some humid on it and some liquid… also a little bit on the back safe of the big connection to the circuit board… I’ll try to reassemble it now. Since I did not open the back I hope I don’t need to do “nr 20” on the list. Lastly… I was too afraid to remove the last bit of hose that goes directly in the drum… I don’t know how hard it is to reassemble the house again… any tip? Should I have some lubricant?

@@zengoelectricslimited6744 I think I’m going crazy… Just for fun… I Managed to enter service mode… Then when activating/running compartment 1 I had opened the back of the machine to see what happens… the pump nr 2 was working at that time ?!?!?! Then tried nr 2 and the pump 1 was working… so I figured that I had attached the cables in the wrong pump but this can not be true since the have strapped the cables so they don’t reach both… What am I doing wrong?! 😭 I’m going mental since to me this is not logic.
