I replaced the commercial sluice drain in this professional washing machine with a miele pump from a domestic washing machine. Will it wash?

Would you believe it took me 5 seconds to find a manual for that machine? It surprisingly explains all the functions.

I believe you. I did the same. Doesn’t explain the timer issue

At least in the Finnish manual there is a section explaining the timer function (page 18). But if the machines logic is effed up, it's no use. I think the manual must be for that exact machine (ws 5073 mc) for it to contain the timer function. Your machine may be programmed differently than a standard machine. If it used to be coin/token operated and that was removed it might be difficult to restore it back to normal. It might be possible to reset the logic. But as said, yours logic might be effed up.

@@Paasiaishanu This might be the reason. A poory executed covertion from coin machine to normal machine which messed up the logic. Last resort - one of the function buttons might be stuck closed causing it to behave "like that"

I believe the reason for the sluice drain is that they are low maintenance and reliable. Where there are many machines, often a drain trough is used to filter the waste water to prevent clogs further down the drain.

All those hard plastic 90-degree bends will add up to quite a restriction on the pump. It may have been worth joining the shorter drain hose onto the one on the machine so it could have a relatively smooth run.

Nice that the pump works, but god the electronics (?) are truly all over the place

I haven't seen the control board, but if it isn't sealed then replacing the board capacitors could fix any electronic gremlins. It's not a nice environment for electronics being in a washing machine.

Check the manual. Flashing drain indicator means that it"'s not draining fast enough :(

I got the manual. You’re right. It wasn’t draining fast enough but it still carried on with the program

The WRAS approval means that it has built in backflow prevention.

Where’s that protection? It looks the same as other washers
@DrFod

@@bootsowen Not sure with this model though I've seen double check valves as a requirement for WRAS approval before. It just ensures that there's no chance of contaminated water being back syphoned into the water supply.

Is the £1500 unit better than mainstream stuff ? Edit.. shte, 3 phase ? 😬

It's stronger and looks heavier generally, Designed to be taken apart. But parts will be expensive. It is designed to be serviced by a miele engineer. A lot of the parts are the same as consumer miele stuff of its day, e.g. motor, buttons, elements. but the stuff like the door is way stronger and the door gasket that you would have on a consumer machine is not there presumably because it wouldn't last in a commercial environment. Better, what is better?

The countdown display won't come on till it's heated to the right temperature, steam vent in the back of the drum which comes out of the back of the machine, it was stuck in a program when you started It hence why it was flashing 20 at the start
@bootsowen
@bootsowen Ай бұрын
I think in this case it was stuck in the sluice program and that program can’t be changed or stopped.

Can you run "drain and spin" or (any other programme with "no spin") ? Or is it non-selectable ?

Esoteric but we know where this should go. Looks like a machine for wasting water and power, cheers
@bootsowen
@bootsowen Ай бұрын
It should use the same amount of energy but more power to heat the water faster. As for wasting water I guess I’d have to take some measurements. It certainly is a waster of space and my time! But time is all we have. And I got the oat roller to perform! There is time that I will never recover

Could it be a faulty control board.
@bootsowen
@bootsowen Ай бұрын
It could. But what would be the reason specifically on the board?
@MG63
@MG63 Ай бұрын
@@bootsowenI am no expert but if your delay times are going crazy and the lights are flashing in the program sequence, it seems like a control board issue. Whether it's the relays or other components on the control board I don't know for sure. It's just seems likely considering the mechanical physical parts seem ok.

@@bootsowen I'm not totally sure but it's in all Miele machines with a pump. I think it must retain a longer column of water and constant pressure on the pump.
