There is a life between this world and the day of judgement, it is called barzakh. It is like a waiting lounge before you enter either jannah or jahanam. If it is written that you will go to heaven, then your stay in barzakh will be very pleasant, you will be able to meet up with your past relatives and the sahabah. The prophet (saw) stated that your time in barzakh will be equivalent to the amount of time between duhur and asr.
