Close-ups and the story behind one of the finest flying MiG-15 jet fighter aircraft in the world today by it's owner pilot Richard Cooper. The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 (Russian: Микоян и Гуревич МиГ-15; USAF/DoD designation: Type 14; NATO reporting name: Fagot, NATO reporting name for the two-seat MiG-15UTI: Midget) is a russian jet fighter aircraft developed by Mikoyan-Gurevich for the Soviet Union in 1940s. The MiG-15 was one of the first successful jet fighters to incorporate swept wings to achieve high transonic speeds. In combat over Korea, it outclassed straight-winged jet day fighters, which were largely relegated to ground-attack roles, and quickly countered the similar American swept-wing North American F-86 Sabre.
The first man in space, Yuri Gagarin, was killed in a crash during a March 1968 training flight in a similar aircraft, MiG-15UTI due to poor visibility and miscommunication with ground control.
