Thanks! That landing speed - holy smoke. One Finnish fighter pilot remarked years ago, that flying the MiG-21 is like being strapped to a rocket. It was back in 1963, when Finland became the first export customer of the MiG-21. Not even the Warsaw Pact had them then, only the USSR. The reason they agreed to export them was, that they didn't want Finland to buy Swedish J-35 Drakens. Well, first the MiGs were purchased and then, a few years later, the Drakens. 😂

Hi all, Sorry for the late answers but I had a problem with the account, because of two loggins, my profile and eXtremeBulgaria one:) So, this is MiG-21 with two seats, the instructor is behind normally, in front of him has a periscope which is opening in same time with gears. The position of the nose in landing in fact depend of many things, for example even of the amount of fuel:) In landing we operate with the handles in same time- decreasing the power and in the same time increase the angle of attack... This plane with two seats can land with 280km/h with approximately 700kg in the fuel tank.

In practice, before touchdown, the "nose-up" position of the plane disallows the pilot to see the runway in front of him; so he cannot anything else but keeping the aircraft aligned by checking the left and the right perimetral lines of the the runway. This was more a problem with ww2 warbirds. During the landing flare you're blind and when on the ground you're always blind to the front. It's why they zig zag while taxiing to keep an eye ahead of them through the side of the canopy.

The speed of landing depend of many details. The single MiG-21bis land normally with 320km/h Sometimes the speed of landing reach 360-380km/h

They are two buttons. Thus one Up left has no a cap. It is for opening. The second one left Down has a cap. It is for dropping out. Anyway sometimes the pilots make mistakes and push the second one first😉

Sure! By the vertical way of fighting MiG-21bis is better than F-16. But only in close fight. Modern weapons of the Falcon will strike down the Russian rocket from far away in other case...

@@AtanasKoev thanks. This further supports that Abhinandan had shot down a F16 on Feb 27th, 2019. The air action on that day were composed of close dogfights between IAF Mig 21s and PAF F16s. One such F16 had tried to target Indian army HQs and Ammo depot. It was chased away and was shot down In the process.

Ну, почему бы и нет? Лично наблюдал в 2008г. летающие 21бис и 21УМ ВВС Уганды в Энтеббе (тссс! правда на них летали и обслуживали ребята белорусы!). В 2009 любовался ими в Мванзе, ВВС Кении. Да, по-моему, есть летающие экземпляры в одной из стран бывшей Югославии (забыл, простите название). Да много их было по всему миру! Довольно популярная машина. Да и Вьетнам у многих в памяти..
