UPG variant gets new RD-33 series 3 engine with better thrust and service life. As you can see upgraded one give cleaner smoke whereas non upgraded ones leaves a trail of black smoke. UPG variant also got inflight refueling system and conformal fuel tank (Hump in the back behind cockpit) which increases its ferry range extra 500KM. Some other upgrades include D-29 EW suite, ELT 568 Jamming system, Zhuk M pulse doppler electronically scanned array radar, OLS-UEM IRST, HOTAS, semi glass cockpit, HMD and Safran Sigma N 95 Navigation system.

I see these mig 29 daily at Leh Airforce Base of Northern Command, they look like Su 30mki, and they sound so beautiful, they always use afterburners to exit the valley ❤ And sometimes do an overshoot at subsonic speeds ❤

this is the smt version, best one i think, its most economic, making a mig29a, into an smt, with 4th gen radar and extra fuel capacity.. making it possible to do sorties up to 700km radius..

It looks trash compared to Rafale. Engines emit smoke like a coal powered boiler, structure looks so fatigued. Older Mirage 2000's are in much batter shape than Mig29.

Although its was a beautifully catured video, but ailing condition of some of these beautiful war birds is really a very serious issue, they look too old and unsafe to operate. Thanks to our pilots who have the guts to fly them. Govt. should look into such issues for the sake of National Safety. 🙏🏼
