Why was the P-51 chrome? Also the bell jet but literally half of the German planes and almost all British planes are missing. What about the P-38, Mosquito, Fw-190. I also argue the 163 doesn't count because it's not sustained speed it's a glider after the rocket burns out. If you count the 163 than you need to count the V2.

Usually naval aircraft underperform compared to their land based counterparts due to the demands of carrier operations and other considerations for operations in a marine environment but the Corsair was truly one of very few aircraft that was as good as the best land based aircraft. Also many of these planes had variations over the years with very different performance. Nice video it was interesting to see the comparisons, it would've been better though if you specified which variation of aircraft is depicted since there are many that look similar to each other but perform differently. Also probably should have used the accurate top speed at sea level since these planes all had different top speeds depending on altitude. For example the f4f wildcat while perhaps reaching 512kmh at optimum altitude of around 6.5km could only reach around 450kmh at sea level so the comparisons are a bit off in relation to the background. Really nice animation though and cool video concept.

Is this top speed or normal cruise speed or taking into account weight? Because I looked up the B17 and its normal speed is 300kmph and its top speed is around 400kmph? It seems odd that a 4 engine heavy bomber with all that drag and carrying all those heavy bombs/equipment could reach 500kmph, faster than some way more agile aircraft from the same time period...

There is always a max altitude , were the planes reach their max speed . This big bombers got their max speed pretty high up , lower they got too much drag .

Disappointed that the Hawker Typhoon or Tempest weren’t included.

The clip is very unspecific, not mentioning which version it describes. For example, first A6M Zeroes had a cruising speed of ca. 500 km/h. The one on the movie is probably the latest one - A6M5 (first, widely produced was A6M2). Same goes for Spitfires, which had over 14 versions, and Me/Bf 109s, which had at least 7 versions. I don't have such in-depth knowledge, to judge all the planes, but please be specific in the future, especially in the era of online games, which try to be pretty acurate with the technicalities.

Well done! Jet fighters next?
@tidepoolclipper86576 ай бұрын
Mainly Korean War and Vietnam War next. It should be remembered as highly successful as Mig-21 is; it's Mig-19 that's actually faster. Afterwards, they can focus on other conflicts like the Suez Crisis and Battle of the Falkland Islands. Or focus on more specific jet families like Mirage.
