It's absolutely historical revisionism to imply any variant of MiG-29 was ever intended to not be equipped with R-73s. Take the R-27Es from the early models that never used them and give them the R-73s they had from the day they entered service. It's not hard.

Unpopular opinion: The Mig-29 (9-13) should have the R-73 AAM and an ability to carry 2 drop tanks instead of one to maintain realism and playability. The R-60M on 12.0 is subpar, and the regular R-60s are plainly unplayable. Also, once EW systems are implemented into the game, I can't wait to try out the "Gardeniya" EW system, which it had recieved irl. Popular opinion: Great video!)

@@theallmightyego6756 Yes, it's very similar to it, since the Mig-29G is roughly a 9-12 brought to the standard of the 9-13. I will need to check the exact differences (the ones that matter in-game) between these two later. Also I'm not sure, but I think the irl Mig-29G was somewhat compatible with NATO weaponry, so if that's true, it would make a unique aircraft (when it comes to weapon setups).

Honestly a missed chance to improve on these aircrafts, especially the Yak-141, since it was a test bed, And according to the Yakovlev design bureau it used the R-77, R73, R-27 and the Kh-25 , Kh-31 and Kh-35. Honestly if the US mains would stop crying "russian bias" maybe gaijin would improve the Yak-141 and MiG-29 and The Su-27. But I guess gaijin listens to the people who scream the loudest and have the bigger wallets aka US mains

I think it was unnecessarily nerfed into the ground. The Mig 29 loses some much speed in turns that it can now only barely outrate a Su25. It’s quite pathetic. The F16 could easily clean up Mig29’s even before that nerf but after it, they might as well be phantoms.

Eurofighter should still be a few updates away(I’d guess at least a year, the F16 entered service in 1978, the F15 in 1976, the SU27 in 1984 and the Mig 29 in 1983. The Eurofighter entered service in 2003. It’s technically still a 4th gen fighter but it’s still at least 20 years newer than the most modern aircraft in game

Spam flares in a flower pattern and move away These missiles and some air to air missile work by shrinking their FOV to really really small meaning that the closer it is the better flare resistance it gets because it's FOV is so small it will basically only see the engine heat and the flares fired will NOT get inside that small FOV... So just spam flares in a flower / star pattern ... make a cloud of flares and get away lol that's the best thing you can do... preferably while turning off the afterburner lol

So you turn... flare... then turn away into a different direction because while flares are present the missile is literally blind because seeker is OFF

Well wouldn't it be nice to have their standard service missile instead of being arbitrarily hamstrung by gaijin into using trainer missiles only. Mig29 was designed to use the r73 from the beginning, it's the whole point of the HMD - to use it with r73 for HOBS shots in dogfights. Makes me mad to see what they did with the German 29, its literally the exact same plane irl just refitted with some NATO avionics along with switch over to imperial instead of metric - never got any new weapons. Gaijin should give the ER/ET and archer to 9.12 & 9.13 and throw the SMT and mig29G foldered under them. They already abandoned reality by giving the German mig's E variant 27's and r73's anyway cause there is no documentation at all showing that they ever received them so it's a non issue

It's not actually THE Best MiG-29G is a standard export MiG-29 (9.12A) but with a NATO standard avionics and cockpit Compare that to the Russian MiG-29SMT which has way better radar and should even have R-77 missile which is Fox 3 / ARH SMT is better however the flight perfomance is not because it's MUCH heavier So MiG-29G is only actually better for like Air RB meta but in simulator SMT has a lot more advantage Basically the same thing i just said applies to MiG-29 (9.12A) first german and Russian MiG-29 (9.13) ... the Russian one is again heavier but NOT by a whole lot and they are quite similar almost unnoticeable difference However the Russian 9.13 should be having the ECM Jammer thing which is not modelled ingame so when it does come the Russian one will be better then the German one Not to mention all MiG-29's we got ingame should be having R-73's but the early ones don't because balance reasons lol

@@kajmak64bit76 I get your point, but the way air rb is.. currently, the mig29smt is just not competitive enough.. it can get outrated by phantoms, and it's engines, as far as I remember, aren't the correct ones.. The mig29G has the best of both worlds, and I absolutely hate the fact that the russians, who made that jet.. are the ones stuck with the worse models.. I get the balancing issues, however, they could just give the mig29 9-13 r73s and bump it's BR so it doesn't face 11.0s, already almost all matches are 12.3+ and r60ms just do not compete anymore if you fly the mig 29 9-13 which is somewhat fun, unlike the smt

Give the MiG-29 9.12 and 9.13 R-73s already. Make em SLIGHTLY less flare resistant and give the F-4E the Aim-9L and nobody will complain. The MiG-21 has access to the R-60M, a relatively comparable missile. The 29 in a down-tier should be like a 262 fighting a 5.3 prop fighter.
