Hey Dan I've got a question for you. I've got an old Airco welder that has 7 amp settings with speed control. The wire feed works fine on all amp settings and all speed controls except setting 5. When it's set to 5 the wire feed sounds like it should be working but the feed wheel doesn't turn. The liner is new the feed wheel is fine any ideas?

Just a different perspective, here, on the wire end not going through the contact tip easily.... If the wire cutting edges of your welding pliers were dull, re-cutting the wire wouldn't have helped...you'd just get another bad cut. In my experience, what is more likely is that the wire end became slightly bent (or possibly deformed) as it ran through the gun liner, so re-cutting it gave a nice, crisp, straight end to run through the contact tip. Not a big deal, but I thought I'd mention it. Carry on...! :)

786malikhouse 15-20 cfh is the standard and make sure there is no wind above 5 miles per hour
