Might and Magic 6 Advanced Start Up Guide

In this video, I show my Might and Magic 6 start up route that puts the party into the midgame before fighting a single monster. This is a fairly extensive route that completes a sizable portion of the game before the game even begins and makes the party able to cheese their way through most of the early game dungeons. This route is concerned about the timing of everything because the goal is to end the route in April, which is relevant in part 2 of the starting guide. Several things are optional because the rewards are lackluster or would require too much save scumming, and those optional objectives are left to your discretion (Example: the chalice in Bootleg Bay.) If you were to try to complete quests where you would be required to fight through monsters but just skip them, that defeats the purpose of this guide, but once again, it's your discretion.
There are a few inconsistencies between my guide below and the video due to recording blunders, but the exact time, money spent, and items found will vary so much that these small blunders are not noticeable in the grand scheme of things.

Greetings! I've been playing this game for over twenty years now and I'm still stuck at the Goblin Watch at New Sorpigal. I've journeyed to Castle Ironfist and Mist as well as that other place so I consider myself a real veteran and I basically know this game. After 15 odd years, I finally managed to go past the door code inside Goblin Watch, thanks to finding out how to do it by using the Internet Magic, which I am an expert in. However, when I came in there, I was attacked by the meanest rats and other despicable "beings" and the music made me really fraid and scared. But I killed everyone in there and then I came to the most inner place, where I saw a big hole in the ground. And I heard horrible noises. I definitely wouldn't go down into that hole, but at least I managed the first Goblin Watch quest. So then I went to get the gold for it and I became rich. I put the money in the bank account and decided to retire from fighting, and just walk around in New Sorpigal instead, and to that other place, Freehaven. I think it's nice to go there on vacation during the retirement. I sometimes think about that big hole that you could fall into, at Goblin Watch. I am glad I didn't fall into that hole. My characters are all alive and well, but they are starting to age some. I am going to keep my characters alive and never risk a situation like that. So yesterday I also traveled to Freehaven, like I mentioned, and I love that place so much. But then I went back to New Sorpigal and I went into the Goblin Watch place and then I saved the game. It is best to stay away from all that magic stuff, and just live a healthy and good life without all that violence and endless destruction. I know what would happen if I fell into that hole, but it's something I still think about to this day...what if? Then I quickly brush that aside and reason with myself. Of course I will not fall into that hole. I'd rather walk around in New Sorpigal and stuff. And don't even start talking about that Abandoned Temple place. It was a haunted place. My heart pounded so hard and I became afraid and scared. Then I heard Littledick the Archer say: "Quickly let's get out of here", as I hit the door. I never went back to that place. I think this game is about reason, and playing it by making decisions you would do in real life. I consider myself an expert in the game, so feel free to ask me any questions if you need some help. Hi mate, I love seeing how people like to do their own opening strategies if they're veteran players. Some things to note, not sure if you know about them but here they are - If you search the side of the bank in new sorpigal, you will obtain a fly scroll. If you touch the inner corner of the Bucaneer's Lair guild roof, it will teleport you to the +20 stat dragon sand shrine. Then if you touch the longer wall on the outside of the shrine, it will teleport you back to new sorpigal (You can also touch the inner wall of the shrine to portal to 3do headquarters, but I definitely consider this part cheating since it's infinite gold up to 10k + infinite potions etc). The best party is also Cleric + 3 sorcerers. With an emphasis on Air Magic(Sparks) And Meditation early on, and getting the wizard quest out the way for a bigger mana pool. Then late game you have 4 people that can use Shrapmetal to obliterate everything. And a stat buffer via light magic. I personally just go > Ironfist > Get Disarm + Expert Disarm > Lord Kilburns Shield > Expert Air Magic + 3 Sorcerers with Spark + Meditation and you can immediately start blasting the early dungeons for the main quest and get right into it. Also the Cavalier quest in Freehaven when you're making your way across the area. If you also just rush starburst and meteor you can go immediately into farming artifacts and great gear + exp/gold from dragons and giants since u can have them at range, hover your mouse over them and quick cast the abilities and it will kill them without having them be agro'd/aggressive. But this is also a bit scummy, but if u get enough mana u can also do this without needing to cheese it. Anyway, the game is amazing and there was secrets I found like in the temple of baa, you can use telekenesis to reach a mosaic on the wall in a large room and a secret chest is in there. I never found this in my first 5 playthroughs or so, just very cool extra stuff all the time.

I have played this game for years and keep coming back to it. With a different group it becomes a new game. I enjoyed your run so much...very entertaining! I'm going to try some of it and see if I'm even capable of doing half of it. Sorry to say, I'm getting old but I'm still playing and loving both 6 & 7. Thanks for the time and energy!

I love this game, I've completed it 3-4 times now trying out interesting class combos. I tried KKKD and smashed the game, I tried SSSP and smashed the game. I tried the "balanced party" combination and smashed the game. KKKD is really easy early game, because of the high health pool of your party and once your Druid gets shared life, you will never die. SSSP is by far the most powerful late game, because all 4 characters get dark magic and your 3 mages just blow stuff up easily. I could do a 1 character playthrough, but I don't know. I could do 4 knights, that should be challenging. I assume you are avoiding the free 10000-11000 gold from the new world computing building on purpose in this guide, but since you were inside the shrine of the gods, you could have grabbed that also. I usually like to start the game like this and yes, I restart the game if RNG is not in my favour: I start the game in new sorpigal and grab a Scholar and if there is one walking around, I restart the game until 1 is there. this lets me identify everything I find and then I like grabbing a banker so I get extra gold. there are tons of ways to do it, you can also grab a... not sure what they are called but they give you more experience points so you level up faster, but I prefer identifying everything and getting extra gold. then I grab the fly scroll from the bank wall and teleport to the shrine of the gods and get the stat boost, then teleport inside the new world computing building and grab the free gold, then fly over to the tents, dismiss my banker and grab a gatemaster and teleport back and then I dismiss the gatemaster and start the game, you don't need a gatemaster at the start of the game anyway. the technique of grabbing all the trapped chests is not something I'm very good at, need to practice that one.

This took me about 3 hours to complete on my first attempt. I did come out at level 24 with about 300K gold. I didn't have to grind XP or gold the whole game. It made it very enjoyable. (KPPS run).

It's good to exploit the circus for good items early on. But when you just want cash to level up, the New Word Computing 'dungeon' is far more effective. You just need another one in your party with expert water magic and Town portal. It will bring you 10.000 gold almost everey minute as long as the spells last.

I play with knight-archer-knight-cleric. Great party))) archer is used just for water-air magic, most of the time he runs with sword and spear) Once I tried knight- mage- paladin - knight. The first 1/2 of the game it was very fun, but then it just didn't work.

Those titans and dragons was no joke definitely IMO the biggest threat out of the series Not to mention those flying eyes major pain in the ass especially when there with the linch

Titans and dragons are dangerous. They have opposite immunities, so it’s good that they never group up together. The eyes are a special type of hell because constantly losing your buffs in addition to receiving status effects keeps your party on the back foot the whole fight.

I've been playing this game since it was new and decided to play it again. I've never tried a quick-start like this so figured I'd give it a go. Doing fine up to Dragonsand. Got the obelisk and SotG, but I can't seem to fly into the group of dragons guarding the two chests west of SotG. You make it look so easy, but I get blasted to bits every time.

@@jamesrempel8522 start as high as possible and fly diagonally down towards the chests and horizontally in an arc. Once you’re at the chests, immediately switch to turn based combat and fly straight up vertically. The dragons’ projectiles travel in straight lines, so arcs mitigate a lot of the risk. Like like a logarithmic plot on a graph or just a parabola. Like an arc but with increasingly sharp curves.

this is probably about as fast or even potentially faster than setting up a town portal/lloyds beacon loop in the new world computing dungeon (my go-to starter). takes me about two hours to get my guys all leveled up to 30 ish

I always ran 4 sorcs and powered my way through it. It was easy once you got all of the guys at 150 MP and learned Armageddon. I could go completely wipe out Dragonsand and loot dragon bodies for all the gear I could ever want, thanks to a glitch I discovered. Total easymode.

I think there's a well in New Sorpigal that gives you a few points of luck, but only if the stat is below 15(ish). Maybe its not worth it, but it's still free.

When you spent the two days, why not get some of the gear identified and sold? Then inventory space would not be an issue. Getting full price is not required as money is not hard to get. The armor takes a lot of room.

The list of steps are in the order that maximizes your potential gain, so it’s going to be slightly cheaper to hire a scholar at the very end than to identify at some other point. It’s splitting hairs, but the extra little gold could be nice!

Unfortunately, I haven’t ever played the merge mod. If you save and load method doesn’t work, there are static wind masters in Eel infested waters, Ice cap (I think), and Abdul’s retreat in dragon sands.

It’s sold on gog for $10 or less. That’s arguably one of the best parties possible. 3 sorcs and 1 cleric is comparable, but access to mirror magics across the board is the easiest way to cheese the whole game.

@@cjfox2311 agreed. I only did that so I had 2 healers and could use both light and dark magic. Never knew about this way of starting. My old pc crashed when I was level 220. I can't remember the level of spell. But around level 60 the damage reset

@@Jason-vi2pj the difference between elemental magics, Shrapmetal, and hasted blasters is almost splitting hairs at the highest levels. I love how broken magic gets at the very end of the game!

Serious question for people who like diong this sort of cheese. What do you get from spending so much time not engaging with basically any of the game's systems rather than just using a character editor to accomplish the same thing? You're going to render 90% of the game irrelevant either way. What does it matter to you you spend an hour doing "legitimate" cheese like this instead of just spending 5 minutes with a program to accomplish the same thing? Also, if you're going to cheese this hard anyway, why not abuse the circus for infinite items and infinite gold? Similarly, why not use the New Sorpigal teleporter to Dragonsand/the NWC dungeon? These things are no more cheesy than anything this video does, but they are more efficient.

The main objective is to skip the early game by getting as many objectives done as efficiently as possible and get straight to the mid game. The game, even when played regularly, is pretty easy, but min-maxing sets you up for a successful mid/late game. This route was designed around my playthroughs that don’t use the NWC dungeon because that’s just a bit too cheesy. The part two to this guide looks at the circus loop to get mid game gear pretty easily.

@@cjfox2311 I can't see how the NWC dungeon is more cheesy than what's done with this approach, but to each their own on that. The game gives you relatively easy access to infinite gold and infinite XP so how much you want to break it is entirely up to the player. I just don't see how it's fun to go through all the hassle of doing this at the start of a run. To me, it'd be no different than using a save editor since you're basically not playing the game anyway. It probably wouldn't bother me except this takes so long. You said it takes you what, 45 minutes? You can be abusing the circus for infinite loot within 20 minutes of starting a game and infinite XP takes just a little longer to get setup.

Because it's possible. Using myself as an example, love "breaking" games. It's part of the fun. Some people think there's a "right" way to play, it that was the case, it would be a JOB and not a "PLAY". Let people enjoy whatever they like.

​@@eulondon If you look at my comment above, you'll see I say people are free to play how they want, and the only reason this one really bugs me is how long this approach takes. If you want to break the game, why spend 45 minutes doing this when it takes less than 30 minutes to get infinite loot/gold from the circus? You can get infinite XP farming setup within less than 30 minutes of the starting the game as well. I'm all for people playing how they want, but claiming it's "cheesy" to use the NWC dungeon then spending 45 minutes doing this just seems weird. If you're going to to break the game, there are way better ways to do it.

I don’t consider this cheating at all, but it’s super cheesy. The end goal of this route is basically just to skip the early game and get straight to the mid/late game.
