Would have been an epic battle between MAP and Sunline had he gone around again the next couple of years. Both liked to set the pace I could see them playing a bit of chess with eachother to see who the top dog is out in front of everybody.

Had that extra gear the others didn't have. Never felt he was going to lose as Tycoon Lil wasn't gaining enough ground quick enough.

Just the best we have seen was Winx a better horse stats say yes but she did break his track record 2 times but he was just the ultimate when it came to front running stayers and what may have been 12mths later had he stayed sound with Sunline coming into the picture but all champions have their own time and he had he travelled anywhere nothing would have got past him.

Great horse, but Winx was a level above every horse race (bar BC) to race in this country for a long time. This Cox Plate was a very average field outside of the winner.

@@tb7667 BC was a protected species great horse legend and champion but it was always protecting the perfect record yeah she raced over 1400m and won against a bunch of stayers, Winx took on anyone from 1400-2200m and if trained for an Everest if it was early in her career she would have won that aswell, BC, should have gone atleast to a mile even the way she raced could have gone in a Cox Plate, All Too Hard got beat a nose, so she had the pedigree but just took on Haylist. Winx is was and will be the greatest turf horse in the World ever and better than Phar Lap different times and racing eras but no horse will win 33 straight again and 4 Cox Plates in a row and 25G1s it will never happen for atleast 200 years. We wont be here but nothing will come close, to what she did, whatever race Waller would have set her for she would have won. Even with 65kgs in a Melb Cup she would have won. Honestly fuck the Cup the Cox Plate is the race she won 4 in a row in 3rd gear and had she raced another season would have made it 5. Winx quote was never fully tested thats the scary thing

Won 4 Cox plates and broke the track record.. may not have won 33 straight with standout opposition but Winx stands alone as one of the greatest you'll ever see

This was the worst Cox plate ever, however the winner was a star, winx's Cox plate victories were by far better contests than most Cox plates of the past. All of winx Cox plates were in faster time than might and powers who by the way held the Cox plate record since 1998 until winx. The year 1998 was the first time they raced on the then new strathayr track, and back then they were still racing on fast tracks, which they no longer do. The average time for the Cox plate is around 2min. 6 sec. Winx ran 2.294 that is around 16 lengths faster than average. She ran under 2.3 in her first Cox plate and under 2 .5 in her last, the day she won by 8 lengths was on a heavy track and therefore time not relevant. Hope that gives you some clarification as to her greatness.
