One thing I love about Jinwoo’s characterization is that he’s obviously not a gamer who understands the importance of balancing stats as he levels up, but he IS someone with a massive complex after spending years mocked for being “the weakest” so obviously the first thing he’s going to do is pump every stat point he can into physical strength, and it actually pays off big time in that boss fight.

The anime didn't specify it because i think they chose to use the time for the Joohee scenes but the sword Jinwoo used was Kim's sword (the guy that ran away in the double dungeon after crying about his family) remember Jinwoo picked it up and said he'd take one of the statues with him before getting killed.

Yeah he was the one that said I have a family and ran off crying. And technically last episode Jin had his old dagger back but we know it broke in the dungeon against a goblin that's how he got stabbed. And technically again when he had his arm cut off he could've been holding on to the sword still muscle memory and all (predator scene dillon getting his arm severed but still pulling the trigger)

@@asherealey4911 honestly I wouldn't know, the knife got repaired magically, so I'd assume the sword since it was used in the double dungeon would've got ware and tear or destroyed from the interaction with the statues got repaired to by default, and Jin not really i'd say proper sword management/cleaning (wiping blood, checking dents etc) for the instant dungeon and constant swinging it and getting it stuck in the ground at the beginning weakened it bit by bit. Plus boss monster strong you could make an argument for either.

some points to clarify: level ups come with the same full heal as from the daily training, which is why he healed after the first lycan. The sword he was using was the one he picked up in the double dungeon when its owner (Kim: the last guy to run off and leave him, JooHee and the guy who lost his arm behind) when his arm was cut off it kept holding it, so it got stuck in the inventory. He is still only E rank because the ranks are just in relation to what the association marks you as (based on the reading of your power), he is as strong as a higher rank but would need to be retested (like they tried to do in the hospital) to change his rank, the C rank you saw was the grade of the new dagger.

But there is an argument to be made about how powerful his attacks were. The testing system doesn’t matter because he wasn’t tested the instance he came out of that dungeon.

@@mahdikhandaker2510 The system doesn't measure how strong he is in terms of rank only level, it doesn't even show the level or rank of his opponents, only a general measure of relative capability shown through the name's color. Like i said his attacks are strong enough to match a boss that drops a dagger that claimed to have a c-rank difficulty to obtain. that means he is at least c-rank in terms of power but that is only his strength, his other stats are lower. Ultimately this is a situation best compared to Naruto, despite fighting Kaguya and others at the end of his story he is still technically only a Gennin. Yeah as soon as he gets tested his rank will rise accordingly but there are several reasons not to do so, 1st the retests are expensive, 2nd if he gets retested and is marked C or even B rank what are people going to say when he keeps getting stronger, even people who reawaken are rare and no one has awoken a third time or more, 3rd he would have to account for when it happened as they did retest him after the Double dungeon and saw him still weak.

Friendly reminder in case it comes up in the future but the Won conversion rate to USD is even more crazy in gap than the Yen. 3mil won is like 2k usd. So just a $2000 sword is enough to make Jinwoo go from running for his life against a monster stronger than him to being able 1shot it and take on multiple at once. Its a good way to show that gear makes a huge difference for a Hunter's combat power.

I wouldn’t consider this spoilers since you could kinda tell in episode 1, but glowing of any variety comes from the mana emanating off the body of the hunter. Sung has always been massively weak. The mana meter ranked him as only having 10 mana, so he’d never even had enough in his body for it to leak out like that. Now that he’s leveled a lot, he has more mana. The Intelligence stat increases the mana pool. Since he was base 10 and got 1 for each level-up, he should have level 24 INT when facing Kasaka, so his mana pool has grown by a lot already. Just like his eyes glowing when he senses the boss, it’s using mana. Sung’s physical attacks don’t consume mana, so he doesn’t really show it during movement in the episode until he starts to let it leak out.

IMO the character introduction and lore-dump scenes (that I acknowledge are in the LN but not the manhwa) did kinda bog down ep 1 and 3; we could have got to the smile in ep 1 if that stuff had come later when it's of more immediate relevance. It's been hard for me to get friends into the anime because it felt a bit slow in parts, with lots of cuts to other characters that won't become important until later. It's a matter of personal preference not objective, my opinion is only my own, I just think Dubu's pacing in the manhwa (focusing purely on Jin-woo's story in the beginning before introducing characters/lore) was better and may have hooked people more immediately into the anime.

Incoming essay: So I see a lot of people commenting about how they would have put stats in differently, but analyzing it, he actually made the best choice. If he put points in vit then he would have ended up like the guy in dr. Stone who can take a beating for days, but can never win a fight. Putting points in agility would end with mostly the same results, but be flashier. The only difference being that with agility you might be able to get at weak points with less defense, but that isn’t always an option. Perception would allow him to see the weak points and incoming attacks, but without other stats to back it up he’d end up like the a-hole in slime who the old oni killed. Able to see the attack but unable to do anything about it. Since I am anime only I am marking int as “unsafe.” It is possible that int can give you access to spells at certain breakpoints which can then be used to defeat enemies, but, without knowing how that all works, it’s a gamble with the potential to be the best pick or middling. Outside of the magic, the int would help create plans of attack and make the best use out of what tools he has on hand, but our boy is poor and doesn’t have an arsenal to get creative with. This leaves strength. Strength in the end is the best choice to put stats in early as it means he can actually kill things he fights. This then also fills the role of all other stats as a dead enemy can’t attack you in the first place so there’s no need to dodge or take the hits.

Jinwoo bodied all other magic beasts in the instance dungeon. He could use the teleportation stone, or close the instance dungeon by beating the boss. As you saw he chose the latter. There was no more milking the dungeon to level up further. Kasaka was the last magic beast to eliminate 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lmaoo dead ass. Thats why i love it. The building up for hype uses classic scenarios like this. City under threat by LOW TIER villain and you the audience see superman in the crowd. While the characters have no idea.

Iwas soworried that i would not enjoy this episode because I had read this part of the manhwa so many times. Daaaamn, they took care of me! This was 101% badass and gorgeously made!! That last bit was the best. "Oh, i guess they really beat on it. Good thing me tossing that broke ass sword might have helped some." NO. You blew away it's completely solid barrier, and saved countless lives. Sung, don't forget to be modest and self-deprecating, k? Awesome. Just awesome.
