Funny story, I stumbled on who the other Mighty Max builder in your area is...I think, if he has "fabrication" in his "series" title. Wild @ss coincidence when searching DIY frame tables. Yes, I'm as shocked as you are that the connection was made, and with the appropriate amount of stalking the towns matched up. I will say I don't watch that channel much because of his off putting, smug personality. I might suffer through his work if I get a hit on something I'm looking for like, say, frame tables. Keep up the good work and enjoyable commentary style, this is where I will be subscribed.

Hahaha! That’s the one. I try to keep my negativity at bay especially when it comes to potentially burning bridges. I’m not a huge fan of his style but he’s one of the originators of the KZbin Fab genre so if I ever have the opportunity to collaborate with him I’m gonna have to swallow my pride count it as a blessing. As always my friend, you are greatly appreciated.

Just a heads up haters are toxic but they are a good indication of how popular you can become. The real problem is that you don't have enough haters. I never learned to deal with them though, I just cussed out each and every one of them. Probably best to not deal with them unless you keep hearing about the same problem over again, if it's a repeat issue that keeps coming up that means it's something you need to actually fix and it's not actually hate
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that. There's a lot of truth in there. I'd recommend a book called "Hug Your Haters" by Jay Baer. It's a book that revolves mostly around business and dealing with negative online reviews but it provided me with a lot of knowledge about nasty comments in general. First that the person very well have meant well but just came off as a dick. Second that people are generally nasty because of something in their own lives and if you're kind in your response they'll often change their tune. I agree fully with your last statement. You should consider ALL feed back and determine if there's some truth in it, even if it hurts. If there's truly no merit, brush it aside and don't take it personally. My haters will come eventually. Thank you again!

If you could had fit a 96 5 lug Tacoma spindle on there, you could had used Evo 12.6 rotors and Cadillac 4 piston Brembo brake calipers. That is what I did on my 96 Tacoma. That might max stock rotor and hub deal looks similar to my Toyota factory one.

Hey how did you fix the issue with the calipers not fitting? I'm trying to get this to work (with early 80s hubs/rotors/calipers) on my max at the moment, but it seems to be rubbing a bit on the back pad. Also, it doesn't have enough clearance to thread the bolt into the bottom mounting hole. Please Help!
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 2 жыл бұрын
Assuming you have the right rotors, all you should need is a couple of washers between the caliper and the knuckle. (I think it’s about a 3/32” spacing) This will push the caliper bracket back away from the rotor. As for the clearance for the bottom bolt, I’m afraid I don’t understand what problem you’re having. If you can, shoot me a photo on Instagram @GarageFab and I’ll try and help you out

Hey, Juan! I made two videos on that topic a long time ago. But they’ve been hiding behind some terrible titles and thumbnails. You just made me realize I need to change those into something more informative. In short, you’ve gotta change out the rear axle to change the lug pattern. You can use the Toyota Pickup axle if you’re keeping the Mighty Max motor. Or if you need something stronger or you need a much shorter axle, go with the Ford 8.8 axle. Very very nice The Mitsubishi master cylinder is compatible and functional with the new front and rear disc brake calipers ? I am interested in the pattern or purchase of caliper brackets
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't know but I don't think so. The pistons in the master generally need to be matched to the calipers they're operating and going from single piston calipers to dual piston tells me no. I used this exact brake setup on my first truck but I used a master and vacuum booster from an early 2000s Mustang. That worked perfectly on that truck without a proportioning valve so I'll likely be doing the same on this one. HOWEVER! This may be getting a hydraulic booster depending on how much room I have once the motor is in. The Mitsubishi master is really confusing to me with all the Ts and extra lines so I'm eager to get rid of it.

Thank you my friend! Thrilled to have you. It’s most certainly not as “easy” it is pretty simple though. I posted two videos on narrowing a Ford 8.8 axle which has the 114.3 bolt pattern. Unfortunately that requires a bit of fabrication. What I haven’t mentioned is the possibility of potentially redrilling the axles or perhaps having custom ones made. “Dutchman Axles” is a good company that may be willing to do that. @@GarageFab I rewatched and caught the "assembly" needs to be swapped... my bad! I don't have room for the bigger brake swap (15" x 4" pizza cutter fronts) so I'm sticking with the original sized rotors.

It should be any 2 wheel drive Toyota made before 1995. If you use the Toyota rotors they will bolt to the back of the hub just like the Mighty Max.

I have a Ram 50 1989, it is the same as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max, and I need to convert the rear drum brakes to disc. Preferably by manufacturing caliper brackets at the rear, so I can keep the original rims. How can anyone suggest?
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 3 жыл бұрын
The next video that I've got coming out (Possibly this weekend) might be helpful for you. It'll give you all the options that I'm aware of. I think swapping in the Mitsubishi Montero axle might be your best bet. Some of them have discs already. I don't know of anyone that makes a disc brake kit for our trucks so if you go the conversion route you'll be on your own.

Hey, Juan. They were factory wheels that came on the 2008-2014 Nissan Titan. They were a VERY tight squeeze especially in the rear. The lip inside the fender had to be almost completely removed. That's assuming you're trying to tuck the wheel into the fender. If you're not riding crazy low you shouldn't have to do anything.

Will the Camaro two piston brakes caliper work on the Stock sized 6 lug rotor?
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 3 жыл бұрын
Prepare for confusion. I apologise in advance. Short answer is "I don't know." If I remember correctly the bolt holes on the Camaro caliper are very close to those on the Mighty Max knuckle. Within 1/4" total. With some slight machining I think they will bolt on. I'm not recommending that as I don't know if that's safe. Here's a list if things I don't know. I don't know if the Camaro caliper will line up with the Mighty Max rotor nor do I know if that can be fixed with spacers. I also don't know if the angle of the Camaro caliper is correct. What I do know is the Camaro brake pads will be larger than the rotor and will overhang. I don't think this is a big issue aside from your pads looking new in the inspection window even when they're far from new. If you decide to tackle it I'd love to hear an update. Good luck!!!

That sounds awesome. I'm excited! I had a lot of problems getting a small block 350 into my '86 D50. Starting with no room for headers between the engine and frame rails and later the engine got in the way of the brake booster and the steering shaft. I ended up cutting the truck in half and widening the whole thing 4 inches. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

@@GarageFab I have the 392 mid-range factory headers and the Jeep style "logs", key is that I'm going with a 75mm turbo! So I'm actually going out the front, either by doing a re-drill on the manifolds or by doing a head swap around by re-drilling and re-tapping the oil ports in the heads. If I still have a problem I'm told that the Mitsubishi vans have the same K-member with the rack&pinion built in, IE it's a drop in! Worst case I'll hit catalogs for a Rack&Pinion setup that I'll build to work. Thanks for the channel, these trucks don't get a whole lot of love, so it's much needed and appreciated!!!

I have a 94 Mighty Max of which I am the original owner. It has 194k miles and with average wear. The engine, although not "Pretty" runs great. It needs little bodywork and new paid and I'd like to put bucket seats in and redo the interior and breaks. Does anyone know what that would cost, ballpark speaking?
@GarageFab
@GarageFab 2 жыл бұрын
Oh boy! That’s a rough question to answer. There are so many options and therefore a huge range in expenses. I’ve got no idea how extensive the body work is that you need, so I can estimate anywhere from $300 to $3000. You can get a $500 paint job at Maaco and you can spend upwards of $5000 for higher quality paint sprayed by a skilled craftsman. You can pick up a pair of bucket seats from the junkyard here in Vegas for under $100 or you can get some beautiful racing seats from Bride for around $1500. That puts your price range somewhere between $900 and $9500! I’m excited to see what you come up with! The ‘94 Mighty Max was my first car in 1998!
