Hot Pot/Shabu Shabu has always been a traditional Mongolian dish and tradition of cooking and eating, since it is a communal experience shared with the family directly over the dining table. This is in contrast to more of a sedentary culture's separation of preparing the raw ingredients in the kitchen in a separate space, and then bringing out the cooked meals into the dining area; whereas our Mongol culinary cannon usually does the two at the same place: right beside the hearth of the Ger.

I think the whole of East Asia eats it, Mongols eat it though I'm unsure what you guys call it. Chinese call it Huo Guo, Koreans have it I believe it's also called Shabu Shabu and Japanese call it Shabu Shabu too. I could be wrong so please correct me if I am.
