I was born 93, however the original MMPR only started airing in South Africa around 97, so i fondly remember watching it, and man on the cusp of 30, this movie made me feel like a 4 year old kid again, it really brought me back to such a good time in my history, all those memories watching it came back to me. This is nostalgia done right, sure i would have loved to see some more callbacks, but what we got i was satisfied with, my only nitpick was the cgi, i wish it was a little bit better or even full practical like it was in the original series, it's the practical effects of those original megazord fights that makes the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers hold up better than the original movie and series that came after it.

If they sequel I would love it if Billy kind of becomes a mentor to a new generation of Power Rangers. And kind of have that be the premise. And I’m gonna get nitpicky for a moment, I liked the story, I liked what they did, but I think they could’ve done better casting with the actress playing Trini‘s daughter. I know I know, the power rangers were not notorious for Academy award winning performances, nor will they ever be. But, you look at some of the talent that’s coming out of Disney and Nickelodeon and I think Netflix could find somebody meeting that caliber. Also I don’t think there’s any harm in aging up some of the plot lines from PG to PG-13. Because when you think about it this is more for the 90’s kids who grew up with Power Rangers. So I don’t think there’s any harm in having material grow up with the OG fans.

I think it could be due to the concerns of cashing in on real actor deaths. They could have been worried the script would be cashing in on real tragedy of Thuy Trang, or the recent passing of Jason David Frank. it’s possible that the actors didn’t feel like it was appropriate to have a story based off characters dying in correlation to the actors dying.

9:30, the original Red Ranger (Austin St John) wouldn't of been able to appear even if he wanted to, as he was arrested in May 2022 for federal fraud charges and he isn't allowed to leave Texas, the special was filmed in around October of 2022.

They could had still had him appear via satellite like they did Adam and Aisha. In the entire episode Adam and Aisha were mostly seen on the tv, it wasn't until the end that they actually appeared in person but by then it was to say good-bye and that's it. If Netflix wasn't lazy they could just had ASJ film a video chat of himself as Jason and communicate with the other rangers that way but they couldn't even do that.

I really liked this new special episode. Just little bit disappointed Jason, Kimberly and tommy are not in there. Tommy was my favorite ranger, but he was still alive when they were making this and he decided not to participate, very sad. So when they showed the trailer I kept thinking who the green ranger is, I thought it was going to be Adam, but in the end it was tommy all along, but I wish the first fighting was more longer, I mean they have lots of voices of this actors from the original episode, so they can use the tommy screams from those episodes, to make a little longer the battle. So also I agree, that this will not be a new season, just a love letter to the fans of power rangers.

Look I'm 50 I watch the power rangers for a few years back in the 90s course I I jumped on watching this I pretty much agree with a lot of the stuff RGT said I really wish they would have done the finale scenes better instead of the CG that definitely takes you out and seeing them being old trying to do this that was definitely different I do agree I really really wanted more cameos and he's right about the song at the man that scene hit you. 😢

I am 20 and I loved power rangers when I was growing up in the mid 2000s. Netflix at one point had a bunch of the series and I had no cable, so I would watch a lot of power rangers and it holds a nice special place in my heart. The younger crowd are probably gonna get a kick out of the special just like I did, so I hope netflix kinda continues with the specials and maybe go for Dino Thunder or Jungle Fury next I personally think that'd be cool.

Technically asj can't travel because he dealing with legal issue where he can't travel out of the country since filming is at Zealand where they been filming since after wild force, Amy Jo couldn't make and jdf didn't want to return and retired as Tommy because of his movie he worked on before he died, but I love it I watched it multiple times

But I keep wondering, in the prologue it is explained that the power rangers fighter Rita in 1993, and this new episode is tanking place in 2022, then why tommy is using the green ranger suit and not the white ranger suit, it was made by Rita and lost its power, so they made this new power ranger. Maybe in another episode explains the green ranger suit is back, but I didn’t saw this episode of this exist, so I am confused.

JDF wasn't in this because of how Hasbro and Saban treated him before his passing especially with how they were trying to steal his source material from his White Dragon project. This really upset him so he didn't want anything to do with this special and who could blame him?? Amy Jo Johnson wasn't in it because she's working on several projects including a comic book herself. Austin St John wasn't in it because of his comicon schedule along with his commitments with Fanward. Believe me it would be way better if they were all in it but at least we got the ones that we were able to for this special. 😇⚡

It wasn’t about them stealing his material it was a combination of it being to similar to PR while at the same time he wanted to tie it in. A dark mature version featuring Tommy. They didn’t want that. Now while I do love JDF, I mean it is marketed to kids so it’s not hard to set why they didn’t want to. Regardless he was upset because of how long he been committed to the franchise. Rightfully so as well. So he was done with anything PR related. Amy Jo…….there are multiple reasons why she didn’t want to do it. From being busy, to not being paid enough. As in the cost of her flying there and back and hold on her other stuff wouldn’t been covered by what they were offering. I’ve even seen where she said they didn’t even ask her, or it’s because of her age she didn’t feel comfortable wearing the suit anymore. Who knows? But honestly I do wish they both could’ve done it just for the fact that it’s a big OG reunion! Let alone that ,for fuck sake ,Walter(who hasn’t been seen as Zack since 1994) and David(who walked out due to harassment after Zeo) agreed to come back. On top of it feeling like a honoring of Thuy. Which of course leaves Austin. It wasn’t his schedule it, the fact he can’t even leave the country due to PPE fraud. Otherwise he would’ve done it. He even mentioned how much he regrets not staying with the franchise (probably leftover beef with JDF) and being invested with it. Ut then again the PR nostalgia boom just happened within what the last 6 years? In summary it does suck and as someone else mentioned a miniseries would’ve been better. One episode per Ranger, that catches us up and moves the Trini/Minh story. Ring in more of the cast, even keep the replacement rangers and just have them be the Ninja rangers from season 3. Could’ve had a cool team up of Jason’s team and Tommy’s team!

I wish there was more to it. I'm normally one to complain about nostalgia bait, but... c'mon. It's Power Rangers. They could've done a whole lot more. Made a mini-series. Instead it's just essentially a three part episode lol. But I still enjoyed it overall. It def feels different without having all the OG cast though, even though it's perfectly understandable why JDF (who was busy working on his own solo project before his untimely death) and AJJ didn't want to be part of it. And well, ASJ was tied up in legal issues, but you figure they could've at least gave him a green screen cameo. At least we got a photo of Bulk and Skull via an ad for their apparent sandwich shop lol.

Yes, only in morphed scenes using old voice over lines. Probably the last time we ever see Tommy as the green ranger. Still a great special. If you were a fan of the original, this is a must see.

It was a fun watch but nothing magnificent. You definitely have to go in remembering that Power Rangers is is 80% camp and has cringe moments. The coolest part to me was the fight at the end where they actually use their power weapons a significant amount, even going as far as slicing a stabbing the enemies. As a kid I always got annoyed that they rarely used the weapons, but even when they did there would never be those visceral slice and stab attacks since it was supposed to not be TOO violent.

Amy Jo didn't come back due to being unable to come to an agreement on pay (long history of that in this franchise!) And Austin got himself into trouble with the law over some financial misteads so couldn't film. Only JDF didn't feel like participating, very unfortunate in hindsight. The fact that they had to fake in the presence of absent actors is very reminiscent of back when Austin, Thuy and water left the show in the second season. There were several episodes where they only existed as stock footage, behind the back stand ins and poor soundalikes.

If by spectacular you mean cringe AF then yeah. As a huge MMPR fan as a kid, I could barely sit through it. Trini's daughter was f'n terrible. It really seems like the plot and dialogue were written in half a day. The only good part was the tribute to Thuy Trang and JDF at the end.
