yup, in the comics, Jane Foster suffered from breast cancer, Thor wanted to cure her with magic, but she refused and said she would rather go through chemotherapy, he respected her wishes and invited her to represent Midgard on the Council of the Worlds Jane later became worthy of wielding Mjolnir after Thor became unworthy of it, and she was able to transform into Lady Thor, but doing so caused the chemotherapy chemicals in her body to be purged, the cancer cells are left behind, since they are a natural part of her physiology Jane continued being Lady Thor even when she was on the verge of dying, she later sacrificed Mjolnir to the sun to defeat the Mangog Thor and Odin revived her just as she was about to pass onto Valhalla, and Jane eventually entered remission and was cured of her cancer she became Lady Thor one last time using a war hammer from a dead parallel universe and helped Thor defeat Malekith in the War of the Realms Jane was then acknowledged as the new All Mother and Thor became the new All Father in the aftermath of the War of the Realms, Jane saw that all the Valkyries were dead, but the worlds still needed Valkyries to guide heroic souls to Valhalla, so she decided to become a Valkyrie and did so using the "All Metal", a "biometal substance" that is bonded to her and can transform into any weapon she imagines

I love this because she fights by using the Physics of the hammer she has studied its weight bending effects, it's magnetic feild generation, Jane foster is the one person who has probably studied the hammer more than anyone. Although she lacks the sheer combat prowess of Thor, Jane understands how to use the hammer as a tool. Thor always thought of it as a magical hammer, while she recognized it as a conductor of power. Also it didn't cure the cancer because its part of her worthyness to die in battle to ascend to Valhalla.

Jane Foster is actually cooler in her Mighty Thor superhero persona. I wished that Jane Foster/Mighty Thor survived Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and married Thor also becoming adoptive mother to Love, Gorr the God Butcher's revived daughter and Thor and Jane had kids who are demigods and demigoddesses half Asgardian and half human and adoptive siblings to Love. I also wished that Mighty Thor appeared in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2025) alongside Thor and Love and reunited with the Loki from Loki (2021) and his love interest/future wife Sylvie. (With Loki becoming Love's adoptive uncle and Sylvie if she ever marries Loki becoming Love's adoptive aunt.) And together Jane, Thor, their children, Love, Loki and Sylvie would all stop Kang the Conquerer and all his variants and forces alongside all the other Avengers plus X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy and Fantasic Four.

Agreed, Taika was not suitable for this film. Not that he's bad but he does too much humour. He should be the writer but this film had so much scenes they could muster for emotionally driven parts like Jane dealing with her ticking clock, Thor falling in love again with someone he lost and at risk of losing her again choosing duty vs personal happiness, Valkyrie losing friends she could've been making again as Queen and also a Midgard god. Godbutcher was so powerful in the comics yet we spent too much time on Zeus and some unnecessary jokes. Idm the jealous weapon scenes but ugh I would've been happier to see Thor's decision to give the wish to Gorr so he could spend his remaining time with Jane and potentially either end up with Love as his god-daughter or healing Jane so they could finally have a happy ending. This can be an end to Thor's saga among all the Avengers and have em both return when they want to. But nopeeeeee we get a subpar movie with too much comedy when theres emotions to sell on.

So Captain America can pick it up due to being worthy (in End Game) but Hulk can't (in Avengers) cos' he's not. In Love & Thunder, they show that when the 2 are dating, it is Thor who tells mjölnir to always take care of Jane no matter what & we all see the enchantment in mjölnir - as the triquetra symbol. So Jane and mjölnir are connected & that's how the hammer calls her telepathically to New Mexico and the broken shards come together again. I believe when she lifts the hammer, since the unworthy cannot even lift it (like Thor couldn't for a while or the Hulk), Odin's enchantment also comes true and she gets all the powers of Thor. Weird thing is Odin's enchantment was only for men lifting the hammer.
