This series is pretty epic! Kinda like an Australian Top Gear :D I could do with retrofitting my car with bull bars too! We don't have many kangaroos around here but there's this other species which loves to run out into the road in front of you! Heck, some of them have even ride these rudimentary two wheeled contraptions! How mad is that?

At first I was a bit on the fence with how scripted it was, but it's still looking to be a good series. And I heard they had a number of people who just gave them their cars, like this one, and didn't want to see it again where as others of course wanted them back.
@mightycarmods10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It's been interesting for us seeing some of the comments about this show being "scripted". Not only was there no script, we had personally never met any of these people in this episode before. This is literally seat of our pants working it out as we go. We're meeting them, then within 30 seconds pointing lights and cameras at these poor blokes, while a sound guy drops a microphone above their heads. It's enough to make anyone feel a bit nervous but I think they all did really well. But they are not presenters or actors so we appreciate that sometimes it may feel a bit awkward. At the same time, there are some things going on behind the scenes that help make the show flow better and usually in MCM episodes we would leave all of this stuff in. For example it took over an hour of asking around to try and find a place that may have a bull bar. We went to lots of shops and asked locals. But in the edit, we just arrive at the wreckers because it didn't really help the story having shots of us driving around asking for a bull bar. We're playing with a different format here and also, as explained on our forum, the episodes need to be capped at around 20 minutes. (Except for the finale) We know it feels really different to Mighty Mods, and more like "TV" and the interesting thing for us is that within one week of this series coming out we started to get licensing offers and TV studios contacting us. It doesn't mean we're going to be taking any deals but they see some real potential in the concept of this series which is really exciting. This has no reflection on MCM though, and as mentioned recently on our FB page, MCM will always be free to watch on KZbin regardless of what else we do. Above all those aspects though, is that we made this show because we personally wanted the challenge of doing something different, and we wanted to see the country via a road trip. We have very deliberately tried to make it feel different to the style of MCM, including recording all new music, different shooting style and a different presenting style. Doesn't mean it's better or worse, but we want it to feel like it has it's own style. Some people are going to like it. And others won't. And we totally get that. It's been really educational for us to see different points of view. We'd be interested to see what you think once you've seen all five episodes because things get pretty epic... Each car is obtained in a different way so theres lots of interesting people and cars to see so feel free to comment back and share your thoughts after you've seen the finale. Thanks for watching!

+Mighty Car Mods is a bit hard for me to wrap my head around. I'm from Belize, and I currently go to school in the U.S., and in neither of these places would you find someone to lend you a car to go road tripping with. this is an awesome segment though, and as far as it being on TV, I would definitely watch it. keep up the good work!

I feel like a nerd knowing what a pulsar is, and also knowing that the radio telescope you see at 2:32 also helps curious astronomers see through space dust. Now a days we use arrays spread out over huge distances. In a dream world, this telescope you see would be 1 of a thousand, spread across the entire globe, with half active at any given time all pointed in the same direction.

Idea for Lend Us A Ride: Travel to Norway. Start at Lindesnes in the south, and attempt to lend cars throughout the country. The final destination will be at Nordkapp all the way up north The driving route has to be on the inland route: E39, E18, E6 and E69 Total driving length is 2583 km, but the added bonus is a lot of beautiful scenery

Hi just wondering if there would be any chance of you guys doing a full detailed video of vinyl wrapping your entire car, I'm looking at doing mine but would be a lot more confident if I saw it done properly in detail first, there are other KZbin videos but they just tend to do a montage of it being done and although helpful don't really inspire too much confidence unlike the videos you guys do. Hoping I'm not the only one who would be interested in this. Thanks Chris.

Quick general explanation of Aussie registration laws: You need an inspection slip from a qualified mechanic saying the car is safe to drive (all lights work, brakes work, no leaks or major mechanical problems), which you then take to an insurer who gives you a slip saying you are covered against damage you cause to anyone else if you crash into them (as a minimum), and then you take all that to the state registration office and they register the vehicle as legal to drive on the road. You may also be issued with new licence plates if you are registering a currently unregistered vehicle. All that generally costs around $800 annually (in NSW) or more if you are registering something that needs plates, transferral of ownership fees, or a more detailed technical inspection because its been off the road for a long period. If you want comprehensive insurance it starts at around $700 a year on top of the above for a driver under 30 in a non-performance passenger vehicle. If your car has a lot of mechanical problems it can often be cheaper to simply buy another that's already got registration. Hope that helps for our international friends!
