Try Millliput, Apoxie sculpt, or Tamiya Epoxy putty for filling large gaps. You can smooth it finger or cocktail stick moistened with water and easily shape it and sculpt it. This will greatly reduce the amount of sanding required.

What a lot of people get wrong, mainly because of the original figure that was released, is that he was actually sitting ON the organ and playing with his feet. His "arms" were flippers on either side of his head. Yes, those are flippers, not ears.
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
I address this in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHyZfHernqp0hpo Personally, I don't think it's wrong to say that Max Rebo has a humanoid body, since that's how he has been represented literally everywhere in the years since ROTJ was released, but it's a cool piece of trivia to think that they may have originally intended him to be playing with his feet.
@epocherbs919773 жыл бұрын
For Max Rebo depends what style you want him as. Vintage style he’d be as tall as he is compared to the characters standing next to him. Realistic style or Black Series style he would be much shorter. He’s actually sitting on the top of the organ using his feet to play the keys. And the things we always thought were his ears are actually his arms, or “flippers”.

Very cool. But, I’m always surprised that people have 3D printers without understanding the basic principle... it’s resin that hardens with UV light. You can just brush on the same resin and use a UV flashlight to harden it. No need for glue or putty. And you can repair a lot of support marks that way too. 😀
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
I’m certainly aware that it’s possible to do that, but I think glue is a lot easier and more reliable.

Nice content! I really enjoyed all the process. I was wondering how do you wash and cure the inside of the prints? Thanks!
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
That’s one reason why you have to add drain holes to hollow models. It allows you to rinse out the inside with alcohol. When curing, the UV light is able to penetrate into the inside, partially through the drainage holes and partially just through the shell of the figure, which is not super thick. And even if it’s not perfectly cured inside, it shouldn’t matter as long as it’s not dripping or something
@IkerArroyoMoso3 жыл бұрын
@@MightyJabbasCollection Thanks for the reply! I actually use drain holes in my prints (2-3 mm) and happen to have leaks and spills over time... I guess larger holes would do the job better...

They look great! The canon thing is Max's legs are playing the keyboard. He doesn't have any more limbs unlike the figure. He's basically just sitting on there on a flat pillow rather than having a lower being down inside the round keyboard, at least that was the original designer's intent. But I understand you using this model more like the figure from the early 80s. Here's more on that www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-mysteries-getting-to-the-bottom-of-max-rebo

Sadly, this is something that happens frequently when you have 3D sculptors making models without any consideration for the mechanics of printing or restrictions the software might have. It's something folks will have to work on :)
@SeithonJetter3 жыл бұрын
Also just to add, part of the issues your having is that the longer your exposure times, the more the object "grows" beyond its defined size, its never going to be perfect but a 3d designer can account for it somewhat by allowing a little more play in joints. Otherwise yeah you have to just sand it down :) Its very noticeable on peg joints as you end up with the socket being smaller and the peg being larger.

Would have been great to have a model or figure of Max as he is supposed to be. Those aren't his arms... those are his legs. He's similar to Sebulba.

I'm aware of that theory: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHyZfHernqp0hpo And yes it would be cool to have a version like that, although I suppose the alternate version that is attached to the organ is pretty close. whatever happened with your life size, 3D printed R2-D2? Also did you ever finish and paint your life size Jabba?
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
R2 has been on hold for a long time, but I think I might actually be able to finish it this year (famous last words). I decided not to go ahead with the painting of Jabba because I turned out that I can't fill in the gaps and do a lot of sanding in the basement, and because frankly it turned out to be more work than I think it's worth. I'm trying to keep my projects more limited in scope now so this kind of thing doesn't happen, since I realize that it's annoying to have things left hanging. I really prefer to make them fit into a single video but I thought it would be too long in this case.

I don't really sell things in general, and these take long enough to print and finish up that I just wouldn't be able to do it for other people. I'm well aware of this theory. I introduced it in my Jabba's Palace Roll Call video about Max back in January 2017 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHyZfHernqp0hpo) and I even have a custom statue of Max in his original form (instagram.com/p/CPtAXlUgQYb/ ). However, I think it's questionable to say that Max as a bipedal humanoid is incorrect, considering that literally every toy, piece of artwork, and sculpture made since ROTJ was released shows him that way. It may very well be all have been influenced by Kenner's original interpretation of the character, but I'd say the humanoid version of him is canon until we see something to contrary. Frustratingly, we never saw enough of him in Book of Boba Fett to be sure what he looked like.

They do go on sale from time to time, but even if you pay for the models and materials like resin and paint, it’s still a fraction of what something like this would cost from a high-end manufacturer like Sideshow or Gentle Giant. I would expect a set of 1/6 Max Rebo Band figures or statues to cost at least $500 and probably more, considering a single 1/6 scale figure routinely costs well over $200
