yes it can be , im still learning things in this game because the world has a lot to it, and all the ingame systems there is a lot to learn. But people forget that is the nature of an mmorpg, they are huge and involved living worlds mmorpgs are not meant to be played in a week or too. They are a longstanding hobby that you evolve in. And I wouldnt have it any other way, mmorpgs like this are rich and diverse wonderful worlds to play and grow in. I will tell you this, anet made it so you can always check info if you get lost or confused they have their own info site you can pull up by typing ingame chat /wiki and whatever you need to get info on. So if I wanted to know how to get an ascended weapon ,you can type ingame /wiki ascended greatsword. That will pull up a list of all in the game and how to get them.

Quick note on WvW: While you can play it with the base game, if you want to join a large group of people you will likely need a mount, or you will fail to keep up at some point. The warclaw mount of any other player will give you a speed boost when you are near it, so you can keep up. However if you get out of range, either by mistake, or because you become engaged in combat, there is almost no way to catch up to the group again.

I probably would have also included a section giving a bit more information on map metas for expansions, particularly Heart of Thorns given just how different they play from core open world and how often they get played and how lucrative their rewards can be (VB being one of the easiest ways to get stat selectable exotic gear without shopping the trading post, and Tarir being an actual gold mine). One thing that I might add regarding most of GW2 open-world content is how deeply collaboration-intensive they are. Not that you need to constantly focus on collaborating, but that everything you do becomes a collaborative effort that helps you and other players. You and another player both hit an enemy once and it dies? Nice, GW2 will see it as if you were in a party and credit the full experience and loot for both players. Someone just died trying to clear a jumping puzzle? Revive them and you're getting free experience. Silverwastes meta events are a great example of this. I feel great picking up shovels and seeing an army of people following me as I dig loot around.

Mainly because there is so much to do, and many rewards revolve around achievements. the achievement system is amazing you can get some amazing rewards for. So I tell people to check achievement panels to see what you may want to focus on. The game is open ended and anyone can find their niche in GW2, like pvp and big battles on battlefield maps that are big zones, there is WvW or world vs world, like raiding? ..there are good amount of raids, and you can do them normal or hard mode. Fractals are really fun and go from easy to extreme to fit your taste. If you are a person that just like to put around the world doing want you want you can! Yes I completely agree. Bought HoT and PoF in December while was on sale, leveled necromancer to 80 and wow I can't describe how painful that is. Story missions every 10 levels and it is terrible. Leveling is so stretched across map and game is full with stupid hearts quests that are nothing more than fetch quests. Scenario for the game could be on 5 written pages. Now if I want to do story in order, I have to buy living world seasons which is 4160 gems which is 60$/€ and then 30$ for expansion that is coming in February. Huge map, new player don't know where to go or what to do, no markers on map, run around and find fun. No mount until you are level 80 and play Path of Fire, until then you run slow like a turtle. And now I am level 80 and I have nothing to do. I see that there are raids and fractals (some kind of dungeons) but I have no motivation to play because there is no point. End game is to farm gold to buy skins to show off and nothing more. The game don't have tutorial, doesn't explain anything. Also there are so many currencies in the game that is ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Just started the game yesterday. I must say this game was absolutely fantastic to discover as a not-very-experienced MMO player. Played a bunch of them for not long at all, but this might be the one where I get to endgame. Reason? It is just perfectly balanced in its accessibility. You have just enough bullshit going around so that you get that awkward feeling of pleasure being overwhelmed, but not too much like other mmo's like Black Desert. A few well constructed youtube videos, like this one 😉, for general guidelines and you're on the road. Guild Wars 2 has one of the best potentials for attracting players coming from other types of games. F2P for a large part certainly helps too. It's beautiful, kinda rp-friendly, good mechanics, a lot of different stuff to do, ethical shop unlike most mmo's, various classes and playstyles. What could I ask more?

Basically every mmo 15-20 years ago had PvP as one of the main focusses, very often being a big part of the open world. I think it's sad gamers have become so casual now they can't accept certain regions being PvP... It makes the game so much more exciting!

Thanks for sharing. I'm new to GW2, WoW refugee :) So are dungeons soloable?

well that depends its not like wow where you just outgear and out level everything and faceroll it. Content is kept relevant partially because you scale down to it, but in ascended gear and knowing your class yes you can solo many of them, not all like ruined city of arah will eat you solo lol. But many of the others you can. BTW i played wow for years and years and I found a home in GW2 you just have to understand its not a wow clone like Final fantasy, it has its own identity but for me the combat systems are some of the most amazing and active, wow feels slow and awkward to me now. If combat flows so good it makes me want to play even more.

@@dbrown2430 I agree, with the combat feel. As to content scaling, I actually prefer GW2 now. At least everything remains relevant, well mostly. Still have much to learn and to catch up, but I am enjoying GW2 a lot :) Thanks for the response.
