The beef was manufactured during this song (I use that word specifically because you'll see that Cardi purposely misinterprets one of Nicki's line in order to start a beef with her). In the original demo version, in the last fast flow, Nicki's original line was "If Cardi the QB, I'm Nick Lombardi". Nicki meant this as a compliment... even Wayne said to Nicki "wow nicki, that's the biggest compliment you've ever given another female rapper". Cardi took this and barked at her management saying that she won't be on the song unless Nicki changes her lyrics, which is why it is now "If Quavo the QB..." One important piece of context is that Cardi B is signed under Atlantic Records, who in the past has been exposed for offering new female rappers a shit ton of money in their contracts on the condition that they start a beef with Nicki (see Cupcakke and Lady Leshurr for proof). Based off of this, we can presume that Cardi also had that stipulation in her contract and continually beefs with Nicki (and the Barbz!) till this day (because she cannot stay relevant on her own). This was the start of their beef and a lot has happened between them since this but that would take forever to explain... Hope this provides context! And also Atlantic started the whole beef with remy and nicki too gave remy a deal while in jail to go against nicki they promise they would push her but they lied to her they wanted cardi to replace Nicki so remy was the distraction so they can slip in cardi but cardi still fail to do so which tbh I dont know why they even try without nicki female rap is dead just like know Nicki is on her hiatus and nobody is making noise 🤷🏾‍♀️

omg thank you for reacting to this song ❤🎉 nicki and cardi are still beefing to this day, in fact nicki’s whole scheme on her original verse before “If Quavo the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi” was originally written to rhyme with Cardi’s name. That line was misinterpreted by Cardi’s team (or maybe just herself) and they asked Nicki to change it. The collab wasn’t even gonna happen if Nicki would’ve denied the request of Quavo (Nicki’s closest friend at the time), so when Cardi claimed in an interview that Nicki sent an unfinished verse from her, it seemed she alleged that Nicki changed her verse bc she felt outshined by Cardi’s, and bc of that story Nicki felt disrespected. Then, a few months later, the Met Gala incident happened, where Cardi threw a shoe at Nicki because of a photoshopped pic of Nicki liking a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parental skills, and that was the night of the infamous knot on Cardi’s forehead. From that moment, both of them have been throwing shots at each other, but in reality it’s just Nicki Minaj versus Pardison Fontaine and Offset, both write for Cardi. Again, as you can see in the comments Nicki has been so so so talented with her pen game since the beginning, and Cardi’s been an industry response of record labels to have a Nicki Minaj, who would bring them revenues… and that’s why I wanna ask u to react to Click Clack (Mixtape Nicki) 😢❤❤❤

Basically nicki and cardi had a rap battle on this song but only 1 of them wrote their own verse.. It was a whole drama tho, Nicki’s verse originally said “if cardi the QB I’m Nick Lombardi” & Cardi didn’t like that so she told her label to have nicki take her name out of her verse.. nicki clearly had a better verse than everyone on this song, I mean she is the only lyricist on it.. overall dope song! Nicki’s verse is definitely in my top 5 or 10 best verses!
