Why isn't African Union doing anything. We should put pressure on our governments to do something about this inhumane act
@sporo20007 жыл бұрын
No government has the right to stop its people from leaving for foreign countries, but have the right to stop people from entering theirs. It is a simple matter of Libyans arresting illegal immigrants into the country and deporting them, and truth be told it is easier to deport them by putting them on ship and sending them out to sea, than to send them across a border in an African country where they will simply come across the border again.

Do they have a choice? What do African leaders and governments have to say about their citizens being sold as slaves in Libya? Curse be on these leaders and governments! Nick Harley so my mentality of work hard and make a genuine earning rather than quick cash is dangerous to Nigeria right? Do you know the sold properties to end up in Lydia? A poor person in Nigeria won’t afford to own a house or have land. These people all had something doing in Nigeria a left it for unseen millions abroad. If there was millions abroad I guess the white peoples who live and work in Nigeria won’t brother leaving their countries where money grow on trees. Once again I don’t pity them. If you’re Nigerian you will agree with me that there loads of opportunities here. And if you disagree maybe you’re one of the migrants
@nickharley23447 жыл бұрын
Fidelis ane jennifer I'm not Nigerian, and I'm not an immigrant. I'm an African American. I didn't mean any disrespect. I just don't understand your logic. If these people choose to leave Nigeria for another country and chase wealth that is their prerogative. Why should that have an impact on your compassion for them being sold as slaves? That mentality is ignorant, and heartless.These people are your people regardless of their decisions to leave. That mentality is the same one that got my ancestors sold to America.

Sub-Saharan Africans, let us gain consciousness, please. Even before this slave trade issue emerged, I couldn't sympathise with Sub-Saharan people for the risks certain were taking to get to Europe. It's ridiculous; crossing the Mediterranean sea on an inflatable device? Really? Bringing children along with you? Why, so you can get to a land that doesn't even have the resources to sufficiently satisfy its own populations? I understand desperation, however, in this context I don't think it justifies stupidity. Yes, there is suffering in Sub-Saharan Africa, and I acknowledge the history that lead to that suffering. Notwithstanding, no long-term solutions will be obtained for the continent if Africans themselves don't fight to obtain them. If we keep accepting for our countries to be exploited, and looking for an easy way out, the cycle of mass poverty will only persist, and desperate people will only continue to be preyed upon for their desperate acts. Slavery is inexcusable, but beyond that, it's time for Sub-Saharan peoples to create lasting change for themselves in order to stop being perpetually victimised.

The African slave trade reached monumental heights after Pope Pious II issued the edict that said" You are hereby authorized to reduce to slavery all infidel people because they are outside of the grace of god". The religion of peace(christianity) then proceeded to disperse slaves through Europe and the Americas in the most brutal form of slavery known to man. One of the first ships made after that endorsement was called,The Good Ship Jesus". And that's not scratching the surface of, "The Religion of Peace".
