Why isn't African Union doing anything. We should put pressure on our governments to do something about this inhumane act
@sporo2000
@sporo2000 7 жыл бұрын
No government has the right to stop its people from leaving for foreign countries, but have the right to stop people from entering theirs. It is a simple matter of Libyans arresting illegal immigrants into the country and deporting them, and truth be told it is easier to deport them by putting them on ship and sending them out to sea, than to send them across a border in an African country where they will simply come across the border again.

this slave trade is not a recent phenomenon ALJAZEERA. It might have become visible to the public these days, I ,was in Libya in 2013 trying to make it to Europe, I was sold for 400 dollars, and then then for 1000 dollars, thank GOD I finally escaped.

I have heard no one addressing the reasons why our African brothers are running away from their countries with their families or leaving their families behind and willing to be sold as slaves in Libya and brutalized in the most horrific manner in other countries. Do they have a choice? What do African leaders and governments have to say about their citizens being sold as slaves in Libya? Curse be on these leaders and governments! Is it not their responsibility to protect and represent their citizens who are oppressed and persecuted in other countries? Some nations will go to war if their citizens are abused abroad.

Nick Harley so my mentality of work hard and make a genuine earning rather than quick cash is dangerous to Nigeria right? Do you know the sold properties to end up in Lydia? A poor person in Nigeria won’t afford to own a house or have land. These people all had something doing in Nigeria a left it for unseen millions abroad. If there was millions abroad I guess the white peoples who live and work in Nigeria won’t brother leaving their countries where money grow on trees. Once again I don’t pity them. If you’re Nigerian you will agree with me that there loads of opportunities here. And if you disagree maybe you’re one of the migrants
@nickharley2344
@nickharley2344 7 жыл бұрын
Fidelis ane jennifer I'm not Nigerian, and I'm not an immigrant. I'm an African American. I didn't mean any disrespect. I just don't understand your logic. If these people choose to leave Nigeria for another country and chase wealth that is their prerogative. Why should that have an impact on your compassion for them being sold as slaves? That mentality is ignorant, and heartless.These people are your people regardless of their decisions to leave. That mentality is the same one that got my ancestors sold to America.
@nickharley2344

Sub-Saharan Africans, let us gain consciousness, please. Even before this slave trade issue emerged, I couldn't sympathise with Sub-Saharan people for the risks certain were taking to get to Europe. It's ridiculous; crossing the Mediterranean sea on an inflatable device? Really? Bringing children along with you? Why, so you can get to a land that doesn't even have the resources to sufficiently satisfy its own populations? I understand desperation, however, in this context I don't think it justifies stupidity. Yes, there is suffering in Sub-Saharan Africa, and I acknowledge the history that lead to that suffering. Notwithstanding, no long-term solutions will be obtained for the continent if Africans themselves don't fight to obtain them. If we keep accepting for our countries to be exploited, and looking for an easy way out, the cycle of mass poverty will only persist, and desperate people will only continue to be preyed upon for their desperate acts. Slavery is inexcusable, but beyond that, it's time for Sub-Saharan peoples to create lasting change for themselves in order to stop being perpetually victimised.

@@mzmissy9591 Because Europe is twice as dense in population as Africa, and there isn't any land that isn't owned by anyone in Europe. If you come to Europe, you can't just plant on the land that you find, you have to buy it first. If farming is what you want, why not farm in Africa and invest those thousands of dollars that you would pay to smugglers (an average 5000 dollars) into farming equipment.

It's better to live with little because your situation could improve, rather than to go towards death, leaving your family without anyone to support them. If they can influence each other in such large numbers, that mean's they have the power to change their own government and get the better future that they're chasing.

Jared Taylor Yeah! The African slave trade reached monumental heights after Pope Pious II issued the edict that said" You are hereby authorized to reduce to slavery all infidel people because they are outside of the grace of god". The religion of peace(christianity) then proceeded to disperse slaves through Europe and the Americas in the most brutal form of slavery known to man. One of the first ships made after that endorsement was called,The Good Ship Jesus". And that's not scratching the surface of, "The Religion of Peace".

And I pray to god that you will never get peace in your house too. Libya fed, helped and spend billions and billions and billions of dollars just to help our african countries but that’s what you get when you go through adversity. This is all lies about slavery but you seem brainless you controlled by media. These people trying to get to Europe and when they get detain and sent back to their countries they say Libyan enslaving us. Libya now is a WAR zone WTF are you doing there in the first place.

-- this is a very complex and multifaceted issue. Should the Libyans be blamed for the conditions in which these Africans find themselves in or should sub-Saharan leaders be tried(independent local courts) and electrocuted for not starting and investing in social programs that would benefit their populace?

Create sanctuary cities in Africa where they can avoid the violence, but then THEY must take control of those cities to maintain their safety. Assistance is one thing, but they are responsible for themselves.

The Somali Man wants to go work in a German factory and eat schnitzel. He heard a rumor; someone knows someone that went, that was 8 years ago, they said it was great. What no one says is the job is horrible, it's freezing, they are looked down on, they aren't learning the language, it's sad and lonely and the schnitzel is made from pork.

I just saw this now, I didn't know that the physical slavery is still happening. I thought it was only mentally. This is sad, because we are all talking about this on youtube but we are keeping posting nonsense on our social media.

Owning your own slave sounds like a good idea but think about it, you would need to feed and house this new person. Could you really get your money back out in work???

This is just another broken vein on the hemorrhage that will show its effects across the globe soon. We as humans need to to really step back from the commercialism and ego powered life style and really do something great before its too late.
