Miguel Cotto vs. Daniel Geale, was a 12-round fight for Cotto’s WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Championships. The fight took place on June 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and was televised live on HBO. The fight, which was presented by Roc Nation Sports and Miguel Cotto Promotions in association with Gary Shaw Productions, was the official kick-off event of the 2015 National Puerto Rican Day Parade Week and is sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, Jaybird, TapouT, Tequila Cazadores, Venue Kings and Nüe Resource. In addition to the great action inside the ring, the event featured several notable Roc Nation touches that will further serve spectators with an enhanced fan experience, including Roc Nation and Grammy nominated artist Big Sean taking to the ring for a special performance prior to the main event. The event was hosted by notable emcee “The Voice of New York” Angie Martinez and also feature hit master DJ Lobo who will serve alongside Martinez throughout the night.

Harri v'Jah This is what I think will happen. Canelo will chase Cotto around the ring and Cotto will simply outbox him. Plus Cotto has the power in his punches to keep Canelo cautious enough not to bum rush in. I think the Cotto we saw tonight outboxes both Canelo and Golovkin. I just hope they make those fights soon before Cotto or Freddie get a little too old!

ComplexGentleman Exactly....Canelo is awesome but that kid needs serious coaching on his footwork...he can't cut off the ring to save his life...if Margarito couldn't trap Cotto in the 2nd fight...Canelo got no hope.... Blake Garvey​ in my honest opinion, Geale would've definitely done better because he would've had a better punch resistance but I'm not too sure he would've won anyway. Granted its easier to look great against a drained opponent, but cotto did still move very well and showed good speed. I feel he still would've been a little too much for him, but it wouldn't have been a 4th round tko

Catchweight Championship fights are a disgrace to boxing. Especially, when the champion is the one forcing the challenger the catchweight. Geale, took the fight for the money, and the opportunity. But it shouldn't be that way. Is Miguel Cotto a Middleweight champion. Well, he is because he beat the champion, but if he wants to keep the belt he can't be forcing fighters to a catchweight.

Corona Beach Ens Don't blame Cotto. Blame the WBC. They allow it. They can easily tell the fighters to make it in the weight it's supposed to be or else vacate the title. He admitted it. Why try to fool the people he's a real middleweight champion when he forces fighters to a catch weight. There is no way he fights GGG at 160. If they make that fight they would want GGG to come down to fight him. Geale weighted 180 Lb. Whats the deal?. He did actually made 157 with no problems because he said to have the knowledge to work weight. Cotto on the other hand couldn't even reach 155 lbs plus. At the last weight in and for the fight. The people like u that bitches about the catch weight, have no fundamentals. Daniel is a nat middle weight and his body catched up nearly 30 lb. Due to good mas condition. We had simply no skills for a man like Miguel.

I actually think daniel geale came out of this fight, with by far, the most respect, for his great attitude and agreement to the stipulations. Queen cotto continues to duck the mandatory challenger, when questioned after the bout it seemed like he shook in his boots at the thought of gennady. I hope he fights golovkin and puts an end to this shame, cotto was once one of my favourite fighters, its been heart breaking to see what has come as of lately.

Gennady GGG Golovkin is a REAL middleweight a true 160 lbs.if COTTO ever decides to fight him he won't be weight drained and weak like Geale due to the catch weight, CANELO also will be very strong, either one can beat COTTO, the WBC title will CHANGE hands very soon!
