I was lucky enough to follow him on a couple of practice rounds around time he came on tour, absolutely class player, to see him relaxed without scorecard was unreal, what a shot maker, just like seve and ollie

Miguel is bang on. Visualising the line then aiming for a mid way point to roll the ball over is key.

Spanish players are EXCELLENT feel players..this guy should've won majors on the regular tour. He oozes golf talent, lucky guy! I watched him hit driver and then three wood on the range at Valhalla. He was hitting those shots on a rope, buddy. It went on for 25 minutes at least. Baby draw after baby draw, gorgeous golf shots.

I'm struggling with straight-in putts because there is no breaking point. I'll have to work on my in-line points focus. I forgot the hole a long time ago, but I never thought of it that way.

Pros don’t get 90% of 6-8 footers. It’s about 70% from 6 feet
@LionelMessi-ct7tu3 жыл бұрын

@kccodex89312 жыл бұрын
Right, it's about 90% from 3 feet. Maybe 50% from 6 feet.

She seemed a bit confused with his simple instruction. Also, the pros definitely don't make 6-8 foot putts 90% of the time.

@whocareswins18 жыл бұрын
the tour average from 6' is 66% and the it's 50% from 8'. I think any pro will struggle to get it 90% of the time :/. Just goes to show how hard it is
@mangoman21486 жыл бұрын
I suspect the 90% number came from the 'putting inside 10 feet' stat. The season leader in that stat is usually around the 90% mark. I also hate the stat because it is so misleading to the general golfing public. They don't realise that over a season, about two thirds of putts inside 10 feet are actually inside 3 feet (basically gimmes). They think of tour players holing 90% of their 10-footers, when in reality they make about 40%.
@josephmeyers90016 жыл бұрын
I asked my club pro about that statistic a while ago and his response was that 'average' leaves a lot of room for variation. The leaders on Tour are making a much higher percentage of their 6 and 8 footers, and the players 'on the bubble' are doing much worse. But I agree that 90% is still a difficult goal for them all.
@interestedbystander1965 жыл бұрын
But it is also true that putting is probably the only area where an ordinary golfer can play on level terms with the pros. We are never going to drive as far as them, never going to hit our irons as long and straight, never going to go 140 with a wedge and have the ball on a string like the pros do. But we CAN putt like them. This is the one area where a pro has no innate advantage over an ordinary golfer. You'll never outdrive Tiger, DJ, Rory, Henrik, Rosey, Tommy or any one of these guys. Never. But, on a given day, you can outputt them.

@interestedbystander1965 жыл бұрын
And it's also at least 500 three-putts you'll never make again. If you don't think there was anything of value in that, friend, you might as well give up the game.

@louislazarus92535 жыл бұрын
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! You must allow extra borrow on breaking putts because of.....GRAVITY. You see the "picture" in your brain of the line the putt will travel on but in order to get the ball on THAT line, you have to account for the fact that the second the ball leaves your putter, the ball is falling down the hill in the direction the ball is going to break. If you see the break is two balls right on a right to left putt, add another two balls or more so that the instant your ball leaves the putter, it is being acted on the break so it will be left of where you expected it to be. By hitting the ball a little more right, that will put it closer to the line you see in your mind's eye. The Mechanic missed low and left EXACTLY because he doesn't understand this principle of physics and the same happens to most amateurs. Aim higher and you'll make more putts!!!

I kinda think miguel knows what he's talking about, he's actually won on tour???
