Servoujklentz Duterte on the contrary, it takes a whole package - vocals, personality, songwriting skills, instrument skills, smarts and hutzpah....did I say songwriting skills? to be an idol. This is the difference between idol and the voice, hence, the blind auditions. Go ahead, do your homework man! Miguel has all of these, some, maybe in smaller amounts than others but nothing that can’t be improved. Did you know that aside from the guitar, he also plays the trombone and the piano? I saw this on a high school photo when he was in the marching band. This guy is the real deal - he writes, arranges his own songs, plays instruments and sings. The looks is just icing on the cake. Did you also know that he graduated from a top US university first before he took on music full time? Everything else that people here are talking about - his fashion style, yung paging mahiyain, emotions (really?)...all can be learned/improved. And trust me, if I’m reading him correctly right now, he is taking all constructive criticism well that’s why his performances are improving every week. The thing that I like about Miguel is, he is very originally Miguel, even if he is singing other people’s song. Hindi nakakasawa pakinggan. I don’t know about you man, but you don’t have to be a biritera to be an idol.

There are still a lot of people who don't get the show. It's IDOL Philippines, not THE VOICE... Their looking for an IDOL not a just singer. A complete package, someone who can sing, has a great visual, has a mass appeal, and someone w/ great personality and attitude. Regine Velasquez is obviously in charge of the singing technicalities, Vice (despite not being a singer has this undeniable mass appeal seeing as his concerts are always jampacked), James is one, if not the most popular and indemand young star in the industry, he can sing and write his own music (he have his own music label), he plays instrument, he can act even though he's still struggling w/ his tagalog, and he's undeniably handsome. Moira is a breakthrough star, can you imagine her popularity despite being a newbie in the industry, she releases hits after hits. According to Vice in one of the teasers "they would separate the singers from the stars" which means being a good singer is only an advantage but you need to excell in every category. Just look at the kpop idols, almost everyone has the visual to attract audiences, a lot can't even carry a note but they are considered a star. Kung gusto niyo ng singer manood kayo ng the voice hindi idol philippines. Idol ang hinahanap ng show hindi singer!

Masarap i-copy/paste ang comment mo sa ibang idol vids para marealize ng mga bashers ng 3 judges na huwag naman sila laging maliitin. Hindi naman lahat ng oras ay mali ang opinion ng 3 judges. Napakalayo ng concept ng idol sa ibang singing contests. Sana maging open sila sa kung ano ibig sabihin ng superstar = complete package. Ang magiging batayan na lang talaga kung successful ang decision ng judges ay ang magiging staying power/relevance ng mananalo sa industry. He is the one!!! He is the only contestant who was able to reach my heart and soul and gave me an experience. I cannot relate to the judges when they commented about his facial expression but i totally agree regine and james need acting lesson. Miguel's performance though is epic. I think Miguel performed brilliantly in this round. His vocals were controlled, his enunciation and clarity were amazing and he put just enough flavor to the song with his runs to make it his own. This song does not require a whole lot of dramatics to give it justice. This is an Elton John original after all. EJ sang it sitting on the piano with his eyeglasses covering his eyes. I don’t really get what Regine is getting at here. I don’t think Miguel lacks soul or emotion...on the contrary, he’s got plenty of it. But he’s humble enough to listen and improve where he can. Go Miguel!!! You’re awesome, man! Will continue rooting for you 😍😍😍😍

Elton had the benefit of playing an instrument while singing, but it's a whole other thing when it's just you standing on a stage with a mic and nothing else. 0:46 to 0:59 - Miguel was singing the lines "So sad, so sad, it's a sad sad situation" but he was practically standing still, arms awkwardly flailing about, and a blank expression. After that line you can see that Regine and even Vice was bothered by this. He got plenty of soul alright, but to me he feels more at home with his trusty guitar. Without it, he feels a bit lost. Small thing to improve on!

Thierry I watched it again and I do see your point. I know Miguel listens to constructive criticism and will take the appropriate steps to improve. I watched the top 12 press con where he admitted being very nervous just before the performance where his legs were shaking. I also know that with enough practice and exposure, he will improve. I’m reminded of Neil Murillo when he first started....I hope to see him more comfortable in his own skin in front of a big crowd...hopefully starting in the live rounds.
