I was lucky enough to know Leon's wife, Lucille McAuliffe, she was a realtor in Tulsa and I helped her with her closings back in the day. God bless her sweet soul!

My dad played electric bass for the Leon McCauliffe band. This style of music is called Texas Swing if anyone is interested.

Yes, Texas Swing, or Western Swing, or Cowboy Jazz.. there would often be 3 fiddles (as in Spade Cooley's band) .. by the late 50's the style was for smaller 'combos', but there is no mistaking the influence this music had on the rockabilly music that followed ... wonderful stuff :) .. and lots of people are interested lol ..

One of the first slide riffs I learned on the Dobro. Some great licks here. Now I know the whole arrangement. Thanks so much for posting this.

Town Hall Party was on L.A. TV (from nearby Compton) from 1952 to 1960. Eventually parts of it were aired nationally, and then there was a network version in the late 50s called "Ranch Party." It was heard on L.A. radio too.

I would guess later 50's as the bassist had an electric Fender, they weren't real common until later on that decade.
