I need to find where I read it, but I came across something very interesting….the claim was that IRL, it was Suleiman that made Mirimah marry Rustem, not Hurrem. Hurrem was against the marriage, instead wishing for Mirimah to marry an official from Egypt that was her own age. Suleiman wanted Mirimah close to him, so he picked Rustem and overruled Hurrem on the matter.

I never liked her. I always saw her like she was Hürrem's disabled flying monkey, to be honest. She was always chasing after these quietly timid, squirrely young guys (that i didn't get the attraction to) when there was this insanely intelligent, 100% devoted (to her, her mother and her father), actual Man at her feet. Sure, he wasn't exactly drop-dead gorgeous but neither were those boys, but he wasn't ugly either. The only one that was even remotely attractive (Bali) didn't want any thing to do with her. She was always messing something up and acting more emotional than intelligent. She got better after her mother's death but... She just got on my nerves.
