it's interesting to see so much diversity in books now. as an asian-european it never bothered me much that all characters were white and didn't represent me...but now I see how much I would have needed it and how much I love it. and I also love love reading about other cultures and countries

House of Earth and Blood is my favorite novel of all time because of the amazing mental illness representation, the mystery, the characters, and the EVERYTHING. STOP. How come I just saw this?? I love you🥺 Yeah, and it’s like, a piece of literature can mean different things to different people. What other people think is stupid and cheesy is some stuff I can parallel to my own life. It’s crazy how, as a Syrian girl, you’ll *never* see me or my culture represented anywhere ( unless it’s a refugee sob story written by some white girl.) So, the best I can hold onto is the crumbs of how this feels like. What it feels like to literally be blocked from the world. I don’t want to read Epubs, trust me. But I don’t really have a bookstore full of new releases and I’m blocked from the world, so the chances of me ordering a book online? Zero. Sarah J. Maas empowers women worldwide. She writes with her heart and her soul, and she succeeded in making me feel seen. The way she treats art ( dancing, painting, music), female empowerment, and especially PTSD and depression means the world to me. I have all the scenes Bryce’s most vulnerable in CC highlighted, and I do reread them on bad days. I do love to experience the friendship themes and the family themes all over again. I love to read the scenes where Bryce’s slut-shamed. It makes me feel seen. I know it’s stupid, but it does. And it’s people like you, Mika, who encourage less fortunate people like me to not back away. I love you. I love you. I love you a million times.

I am curious to know of the stories that are out there about Syrians/and or the middle east and not written by someone who just does a sad sob story which sadly is all we find these days. Instead of trying to find one, why don't you write one. Write the story that you want the world to see and know and hear.

I love the illumicrate version of Chain Of Gold. But the waterstones one is gorgeous! I just need to buy the box set for TOG because I only physically own two books in the series and it disturbs me not to have the rest. With ACOTAR, I only own ACOWAR & seeing as I reread that series all the time, I do need the other two books ASAP.
