Even if the layouts are limited to 62 unique configurations, that's still 62 different maps that would be a chore to navigate, even with intimate knowledge of each and every unique set. A walkthrough/memorization would be useless, since they all use the same graphical tile set, so you'd pretty much never be able to know which configuration you're on due to everything looking the same.

@@barret-xiii they only thing that matters is finding items for making the best weapons and armor once. Once you've killed a boss on each tenth floor, you get a key. That's permanent on all subsequent playthroughs. You're over thinking the Chrysler Building. A little bit of preparation saves your hours if struggling. It sounds like you run in blindly

There is a drawn out and sort of funny story of me and this game. In a nutshell, after 6 attempts over the span of 23 years I finally beat the Original Eve and got the true ending yesterday. The long story: I played this game just after it came out in September 1998 (I was 10 at the time). I really liked the game but I barely knew what the hell I was doing so I got mad and said “Screw this!” and gave up. A few years later I tried to play this game again. I got to the Eve fight at the Statue of Liberty but couldn't beat her and got mad and said “Screw this!” and gave up. A few later after that I gave it another shot and this time I got to the Ultimate Being fight but couldn't get past it so once again I said “Screw this game!” and gave up. A few years after that I tried again and this time I beat the Ultimate Being but didn't know what I was supposed to do during the chase scene on the ship and the Ultimate Being kept catching up to me and killing me. That time I got really mad and said “F&^k this game!” and swore that I would never spend any more time on it ever again. As you probably guessed, a few years later I gave it another stab. This time I finally beat the normal game and started an EX game and tried to go through the Chrysler Building to get the true ending. When I got to the Original Eve I kept dying over and over again and it felt like I didn't have a chance so no surprise I said “F(@k this!” and once again swore that I would never play it again. Give it a few years after that and I gave it another try. This time I made sure not to make the same mistakes that I made during my previous attempts and used all the things I had learned from my previous attempts also. When I got to the Original Eve I beat her on the first try. Finally, after 6 attempts over the span of 23 years I finally got the true ending yesterday. What's weird about it is that I'm not a fan of games like this. For whatever reason I just really like the game and wanted to beat it. Every time I tried I got a little better at it and a little bit further on it but despite that I just couldn't beat it before. Now that I have finally beaten it I feel like I now have closure about it and can let it go now.

It was a disappointing ending, but at least it gave us an insight into the nature of Aya's mitochondria. Outside of this ending, we never knew why they helped her rather than try to take over her. Now we know they were actually yet another Eve playing the long game, mixed with other special mitochondria that still held Maya's will somehow. It doesn't make much sense and the mitochondria should just have realized that symbiosis is superior to parasitism, but I suppose Eve is a parasite by nature, it's literally the name of the series. At least it's consistent with the novel, where the father's mitochondria fought Eve's. Presumably, Aya's powers (as well as those of her young clone, Eve) after the first game are provided by Maya's friendly mitochondria... despite being called Parasite Energy powers.

That plotline gets kinda sidelined in PE2 since they changed focus into ANMC experiments rather than Aya's mitochondria except for that one cutscene during Nº9 battle

A properly tuned machine gun makes this game a walk in the park. This was from a time when preparing for a fight in RPGs drastically turned the tide of battle. We need more old school games like this these days.

The DE50 you get from Wayne is far better. You can add all the power ups that aren't resisted as it's a 10 slot weapon

@@kyledowning6775 all the weapons are like that. I use the DE50 in my runs. It's stars are Attack: 713 Range: 158 Bullets: 120 Tranquilizer Quick draw Acid Burst Triple Command +Critical % Counterattack Cyanide That's on my third playthrough. First play saw most of that already

@Eternal Serenity This is EX Mode. He has to go through difficult enemies every floor and a hard boss fight every 5 floors. There's at least 90 floors before you fight the "Original Eve" I think.

Ive mastered this game completely. The only thing you could have done better is lower your bullet count for stronger attack points. I have 3 commands with 2 bullets on my mp5 and get damage way over the critical 210 I see on your gun. Not bad though. Im amazed your armor isnt as high as your gun power.

True, and i also think the most powerful gun is handgun because of the quickest ATB(Attack Time Battle) after the tonfa baton, the others such as shotgun, smg, autorifle may have a higher atk but have a slower ATB.

Gotta find the "super tool kit." It basically allowed you to take any stat off of another weapon and NOT lose that weapon that you're taking it off of. Some weapons have special abilities with + to attack, range, etc. That along with this player probably grinded through the ORIGNAL game and then tackled the Chrysler building afterwards or before the "original" boss..

This battle is not too hard. I beat her at lv 37 with junk handgun weapon and 700 atk stat. The real problem for me is the ending suck! No save for another playthrough? No cgi? No ending song like the bad ending? Just some pride for defeating this boss? Come on square!

thats because they made it so level 38 was the "endgame" in terms of stats needed to finish easily. they also made it so obscenely tedious to level up past that point, but when you hit 39 it becomes a JOKE to cap to 99, like every other fight gave you a level

Just finished this Ex-mode....what can i say.. Pistols and rifles are too slow...I used machinegun MP-5 with 3 move orders, explosive and acid bullets..dmg in options was almost 400..Also u REALLY need atlast 5-6 revives and medicine-4 potions for final boss...Aya level is 38. 899HP.

How did you reach this level? I it have finished 4 times and, I could not have raised my level beyond the level 39. And, my weapon still is very weak and I cannot pass of the Queen Bee.

As i remember correctly, after leveling yourself from 39 to 40 (which require 1 million exp or something like that) the level system changes in that you will only need 4000 mount of exp to rise your level from 40 to 41, and this goes till level 99. And about the weapon, try to get AK-47 by collecting 300 junks and giving it to Wayne in the police department. Have a nice day ^^

@Adrianto Shinomori The best place is to keep fighting enemies on the museum is gonna take some time... But if you are patience you can reach level 99 the highest is level 37 with 184,500 or so after that every level is less than 10,000 points, but is gonna be hard... Cause sometimes you will just keep wandering around and no enemies will show up

Thank you. Almost beat the game years ago but didn't. Had to replay after FF8. Both are awful experiences. I'm more of a PE2 guy myself but it seems like the internet favour the first and trash the other two. Glad that someone documented the "true ending" and kept it short and sweet so that I don't even have to touch the EX Mode. Seeing the guides saying that it is basically a maze and how this ending seems non-cannon considering the PE2 continuation, I don't it is worth my time. Thanks again for this video.

I am a PE2 guy too, i already beaten PE1 thrice btw. PE1 is good, but i love PE2 more because of the semi RPG+shooting genre, the game graphic and especially the surrounding environtment in dryfield town is cozy and the most memorable experience to me back then in my childhood.

Yea u can. After level38(?), where it takes tons of XP to make a level, you break some kind of XP barrier in the game. Every level after that until 99 takes a tiny pittance of XP to reach, allowing you to power level your way up to 99. I did it myself, playing this on my PSP. No hacks.

Eh, the game is short enough that it doesn't take THAT long to play through a few times and get "ultimate" weapons and armor. Plus the Chrysler building is sooo long, I don't remember exactly, but if after ALL of the floors you aren't level 99 then you are probably really close.
