That happened to me a couple years ago. If you have a nut allergy, don't fly commercial flights. If you are still going to fly, buy nut-free meals for all the people sitting around you. Reciprocate.

Having an allergy to peanuts where just smelling them makes me unable to breathe, I'm sure its annoying to those who aren't allergic but hey at least nothing like that can kill you. It can us tho so there's a reason people get uptight on the issue in planes especially

It should be the airlines responsibility to accomodate people appropriately not the individual trying to go about their business. Maybe they need to consider the idea of having a zone just for people with allergies. Pretty sure giving up your seat has nothing to do with eating a sandwich. Never rode public transportation but if its a long ride maybe...

It's true. I doubt there was much chance of any airborne particles in the case of the nuts being baked into the bread, but considering how extremely allergic some people are to nuts (I think peanuts specifically are more common, though), it's usually best to be careful. You can actually be allergic to almost anything. I met a girl who needed to use an EpiPen just about every single day because of the severe reactions she had to so many things.

At my old job, we used to make peanut butter powder. One of the cooks was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. He was 30 feet away, when some of the powder flew into the air. We had to call an ambulance for him. :/
