Drummer/vocalist Mike Browning is now a member of Nocturnus AD, but he got his start in a band that eventually morphed into Morbid Angel. He first met Trey Azagthoth in high school, and they started playing music together from as early as 1982. By 1986, Morbid Angel was operating in a full swing, and they started recording their first album, Abominations of Desolation. The album was never released, and Browning departed from the group around that time as well. Abominations of Desolation officially surfaced in 1991 through Earache records. Morbid Angel eventually regrouped and became the band we know now. This interview focuses on Mike Browning, and this is his story as to what it was like, and what went down during the time he played drums and sang for the band.
Mike Browning talks about the early days of the band, gives a lot of great details, provides many unknown or forgotten facts, and explains his eventual departure.
The interview was conducted by Mark Kadzielawa through Zoom on May 5, 2024.
