One of the traits I truly love about MC is on display right here--- He's got this beautiful, expensive Les Paul Goldtop, worth thousands of $$, laying against his table... and he's playing a Gretsch semi worth hundreds for this tutorial vid. You have to admire a man who recognizes and lives by the credo of the individual "voices" different guitars provide. Hands down, my favorite guitarist! (Of course, now I have to get a Gretsch!)

I think it's a Japanese-made (mid-90's) Chet Atkins Jr. Gretsch (I could be wrong though, it's hard to tell). It looks a lot like one I have, awesome guitar. He is such a great player!

@@rupertpupkin2493 Grossly underrated movie. A very uncomfortable look at celebrity idolatry and mental illness. Scorsese has made a career out of focusing on the musty corners of the American psyche. Sandra Bernhard and Jerry Lewis were outstanding also. It seems, although I've only seen clips of the movie, that it's the inspiration for Joker.

I know for most this nuts and bolts stuff must be a drag. Not for me. There is so much going on. I think it is a lot like Orchestral music. The audience hears the whole thing but we really do not understand that the individual pieces of a work is what makes the overall song so rs ich. I was born with pieces missing from my left ear so everything I hear is what my right ear picks up. Even now after listening to an individual piece that I have played a hundred times my ear will pick out a key element and it is such a joy to hear that or to be able to pick that part out. You engineers always knew that part existed because you either have it down on tape or now on a computer file. But I as a consumer if I am lucky I hear it as well.

I did a tribute song called "Going To See Petty" you can find it on KZbin, my channel is "Frank Coffey Songs". I did a lot of slide guitar on it. This video helps because I was muting by dragging fingers behind the slide but not doing much palm muting with my right hand. I'll have to work on it but I can see how I'll be able to get cleaner notes with the extra muting.
