Kobe is not the be all end all learn to think for yourself instead of being a sheep. Don't get me wrong I've always said Harden and Kobe are so similar and I also agree with his argument but the issue is just agreeing with Kobe because he's Kobe. Especially since they were 1 shot away from doing it last year. Had they won that game they would've gotten a ring.

I remember watching the Phoenix Suns back in the late 90's. They had a stacked team with Steve Nash at the point. They were AVERAGING 120pts a game during the regular season, but couldn't make it past the 1st round of the playoffs EACH SEASON. Kobe is 100% correct in his statement. Let's not pretend he's not also speaking from experience 🤔

I don’t understand the argument. Two teams make it to the finals every year. Most coaches in the league have never been to the conference finals much less the league finals. D’Antoni has had consistent success making it to the later rounds of the playoffs for several of the years he has coached. His “system” was a few made 3 ‘s or a Chris Paul injury away from beating one of the better teams in the history of the league so that doesn’t count for something? Seems to me that his system has had quite a bit of success considering. Everyone wants to be the champ but there’s only one and a lot of that depends on being in the right place at the right time. An injury here or there, a key pick up before the trade deadline, who you end up playing in the playoffs and their injury situation, etc, are keys to winning it all. Most teams don’t get all the “keys” they need. Teams can’t force players to play for them (maybe in trades for a time) but especially in free agency or buyouts. D’Antoni’s system is not the problem it’s just the nature of basketball that is the issue.

Just imagine those as big 3 could of been like warriors or better but egos get best of them. Kd was the most humble of all 3. Also cp3 aint no real leader he just jumps from team to team when he cant win. Look at all greats who stayed loyal to team and won....

The Rockets real problem is they have bet their farm on Harden, who has proven to not be as gifted scoring in the playoffs as he is in the regular season. Teams can game plan against him in a 7-game series more effectively, and he doesn't play big in Game 7s. And CP3 has a history of spitting the bit in the playoffs. he doesn't play big in the clutch either. He's no Isiah Thomas at the end of series, and now he's old on top of it.

@T Tardif they lost by single digits without their second best player in game 7 against one of the best teams of all time with 4 all stars. Clearly mikes system is capable of winning in the playoffs, after all they were the clear second best team in the league and almost beat the warriors and were up 3-2 with cp3. And cp3 fixes that 3 point issue since he still shoots plenty of mid range shots and he's the one who controlled the ball for the rockets in the second half of games in the series. And their system is the only reason it was a close series. It turned warriors into an iso team, which benefited houston with their switch everything defense.

Harden has never played D at the level Kobe did. 12 All NBA Defensive selections for the Mamba. You can't win rings as the best player if you don't D the opposition.

All I have to say is Steve Nash and Amari Stoudemire. Rockets has no hope in the playoffs. I know Steve Nash and Stoudemire was a Suns but it’s the same coach Mike D’Antoni

Kobe knows, he was a major ball hog Until he got Gasol, He couldn't win with that style. But it's really not the style, it's the Warriors having 5 allstars.

D'antoni hasn't played against the warriors his entire career. His system doesn't work when another team goes all out in the playoffs. If you want to win the title the entire team has to beat the other and if all a team has to do to beat the his team is beat one player that always has the ball they'll do that.

There's a reason why Mike D'Antoni was never able to get to the Finals with the Suns despite how talented they were. He doesn't coach defense.

So that's the key to stopping harden in a 7 game series? Don't stop him at all, let him wear himself out day in, day out, let him drop his 60 every night, stop the other guys and increase the pace and pile on the wear and tear until finally his legs are spent and he bricks every shot he takes?

Bullshit headline. They were going to win last year with this system. Its not only DAntoni, its Dantoni/Bzdelik combo. And last year they had the right supporting cast. But CP3's injury cost them a championship. Then going on the worst shooting slump in history at the wrong time in game 7 put the nail in the coffin. It was a 1 year window in my opinion. I dont know if they can make it that far again with this different cast. Dumb management to not do everything to keep the same squad.
