Still my favorite tribute for some many reasons, to name a few 1.) Dawes is unquestionably one of the best players alive right now. 2.) Example of EVH's inspiration on players of different genres making the song more timeless. Genres come and go, but great songs inspire and manage to reincarnate in unexpected ways that's what's happening here. 3.) EVH was a very positive individual, always smiling on stage, Jump's rhythm and melody epitomized this positive energy and Dawes captures that so perfectly here and the spirit of Eddie is coming through.

I think it's the dust mites. Since it's winter (Feb.) in the Great White North of Minnesota and the windows have been shut for some time now. Ya the dust mites! That's what I'm going with.

I have watched this video maybe 30 or so times. I saw it the day you published it and was speechless, hell, I cried at the keyboard solo. My first concert was Van Halen in August of 1981 in Atlanta and I did not miss a show all the way through the 80’s. Ed’s music is engrained in my psyche and your playing took me back to many years ago when me and my buddies slept under our cars waiting in line for Van Halen tickets. Thank you!

There are maybe 3 people on earth that could play this arrangement. Tommy Emmanuel (probably), Andy McKee (possibly, on his best day), and Mike. I have been playing guitar for 30 years, have watched it maybe 15 times now, and I just cannot comprehend all of the nuances involved in executing this piece in one take. Bravo, sir. Thank you for sharing your gift with us...

Check out Kent Nishimura. I'm not sure if he has the finger quickness to do the solo, but I'm sure he would come up with something pretty amazing. His timing and his compositions are unreal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3KYqH6Hlq-Yq6M kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH3cmaqbgdBojMU Tommy has had him perform with him before. He"s so clean it's unbelievable. This, however is the greatest cover I have ever seen, bar none.

@@berge95 I watched Kent's 'Rock With You', and was very impressed. His use of harmonics is killer, and I loved that he put his own 'juice' in the arrangement. He also looks super young, so he is only going to get better, which is scary! Now, with that said, Mike D. is simply on another level. The difference between the two is close in terms of chops, but Mike is just too damn clean. His creativity also sets him apart from just about anybody, IMO...
