Mike is the best character in BB/BCS. He’s grounded but also emotional, he’s stead fast but also stubborn, he’s an order taker but also speaks his mind. Jonathan Banks deserved every award he won and then some.
@plugshirt1762

I wouldn’t say mike is better than jimmy, Kim, or chuck but he is next in line. I feel what makes mike such a great character is how much of a complete delusional hypocrite he is. He gets all the money he needs to support his family and his offers to launder it for him free of charge but mike chooses to work for gus because he can’t go back to a normal life as he doesn’t view himself as worthy of it and when he tries his trauma creeps up. In bagman he then tells the same lie Walt does that he is doing it for his family but mike is doing it all for himself. Nacho’s dad knocks him off his high horse by telling him he is no better than the other criminal scum and he is unable to say anything back because deep down he likely knows it is true. It’s also somewhat heartbreaking to see his morals decline form Barry being able to take a life in bcs to being okay with gus murdering children in breaking bad

Here's what's gonna happen. We're gonna have a dramatic second act where the main characters fall out. Get into an argument, maybe even a little fistfight. Then we'll go into the third act, things are gonna get heavy. You might start wondering how the crew is gonna get out of this situation. Then everyone is gonna realize they need eachother and stick it out like nothing ever happened in the first place. Because it didn't.

Now here's what's going to happen. You're going to get some bad news and then you're going to think about your family. You're going to get desperate. You're going to make a plan to provide for them once you're gone. The thrill of it, and the power you feel, it's going to start going to your head. Those around you are going to think you're spiraling downward, but you're going to think you're ascending to the peak of an empire. Alot of people are going to die, alot of relationship are going to end, but you don't need to worry about any of that. You just need to focus on two things. Staying alive, and cooking meth.

It’s actually super clever and shows Mike’s constant competency that this is the phrase he uses. Phrasing a request to do something, not as a request, or an order, but just an eventuality that will happen makes people a lot more likely to do it. Especially in traumatic situations when people are in shock.

The only one who's able to move on and have a normal day without thinking about it is Jimmy as Saul in the final scene where we see a day in his new life. I'm not surprised that Jonathan Banks gets teary-eyed talking about Mike. It's the gig of his lifetime, and there will never (IMO) be another character that comes close to Mike. A hitman with a heart. A grandfather known as "pop-pop" (and probably also by Gus, but for other reasons, heh), but will end your life just like that, and it'll be another chain around his neck that he has to wear for life. In his eyes, he was talking to a junkie and had to make sure he was fully listening. No more half measures. This is weak justification though, Mike isn't really the bitch slap type

To mike he was trying to get through to a degenerate druggie whose degenerate druggie girlfriend just OD'd next to him. It makes absolute sense for him to slap him about a bit to make sure he gets through.

After knowing more about Mike that smack doesn't seem to come out of anger or frustration, just a practical way to make Jesse think straight for a moment, like slapping someone to wake them up because they need it

It's not his job to be sympathetic. It's his job to make sure that that kid doesn't go to prison. Last time he got emotionally attached to a young guy in over his head, it ended with him having to watch through a rifle scope as said guy blew his own brains out. Don't know about you, but I forgive him for running a little low on fucks to give- especially for heroin abusers he's just met.

Does anybody ever noticed that Better Call Saul has much more "white noise" or "background noise" than Breaking Bad? I did notice while watching the series at the same time but this video remarks it a lot, well in this video the BB part has a lower quality but you can still notice.

Somebody said Winston Wolfe? LOL. I love this kind of characters in movies or tv shows. Mike is a more elaborate version of Tarantino´s Winston Wolfe without the charm, but thats what makes Mike a more "real" and relatable character. Without a doubt one of, if not, the best characters in the BB universe. Thanks for the compilation!

Mike taking the kids to Disney World be like: Wake up! Ok now here's what's going to happen today. You are going to get up, brush your teeth, get breakfast and get ready to leave. Now we are going to the Magic Kingdom today. I have reservations set for Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Haunted Manision today. We made these months in advance, miss them, and we miss out. So I don't think I need to impress upon you that we are on a tight schedule. No distractions. See another ride that looks fun? Ignore it. See a mascot you walk right by. I don't care if it's Mickey, Minnie, Donald, or Goofy. Not a picture, not a hug, not even a high five. Is that understood?

I've been motivating myself with the imaginary voice of Mike lately. Works great. "Alright, now here's what's gonna happen, you're going to pick those clothes up off the floor, put them in the laundry bin, take them downstairs and do a load! While the clothes are dryint, you're going to go into the kitchen do all the dishes in the sink and cook some pasta and some of that ground beef! And you're going to chop up one of those peppers too, so they don't go to waste like last time!" Thanks Mike!
