RIP Mike Furber (September 28, 1947 - May 10, 1973), aged 25 You will always be remembered as a legend.

I was in Westminster Boutique Brisbane I think 1966 or early 67 when Mike walked in to look at clothes. I wanted to be cool and pretend I didn't notice but felt the electricity of celebrity. Saw him live at the Kedron High School. Learnt some years ago he took his own life when fame and success alluded him. Thanks for the memory

Mike Furber & the BB's version is Streets ahead of the Mockingbirds and a Real Rocker. Saw him with Tony Worsley at the Web Disco in Ipswich circa 1966/67. This version is a classic and one of my favourite 100 songs of all time. Russell Murphy

Are you the RM from Zuiderzee circa 1975? If so, it sure is a small world. I too loved Mike Furber.

Good one glad to see someone is on the ball and keeping tabs on our history which has in many areas been ignored and given away as land fill by some media folks who did not care. Note Mikes distinctive hand movements.

I remember going several times to see Mike Furber at a club, downstairs, in Castlereagh Street, Sydney when I was 16. Loved him. Still have his album (LP) in my collection at home.

Mike appeared at Beatle Village (became known as the Op Shop). I met him there and talked to him backstage a few times. He was a lovely, sweet guy. From memory, I’m 73, he also performed in Surf City in Oxford Street.

There was a small venue downstairs in Castlereagh St Sydney (near Park St), that I went to in 1966 where he appeared. Can’t remember the name.

Love the unique hand gestures! He even moon walks at some point! I think the camera man starts dancing in the middle. Very cool song! And this young singer has a great voice and a mighty sweet face.

I met him shortly before he died, he was a lovely man. He stayed in the Chez Plaza hotel in the Cross in Sydney. He wasn't like most of the sleezes around at the time! Most pestered and hassled us young female teens, he wasn't like that. I was so sad when I heard he'd died. Nice man!

Tony Hicks was and is lead guitarist in The Hollies...!!... I was in a band in Townsville in the late 60's called Madison Avenue...Mike Furber toured North Queensland way back then and we backed him at a local joint called The Scene...His star was fading by then and I feel it wasn't a great tour for him and that he missed his Bowery Boys....However they are fond memories..!!

No breach of copyright intended. You Stole My Love (Graham Gouldman) 1966 Mike Furber & The Bowery Boys version lyrics I gave you all I had to give, I swore without you I’d never live, The greatest love that had ever been, Cooled off when you picked me clean. There’ll be a time when you’ll regret, And curse the day that we’d ever met, You’ll pay the price that a sinner pays, And girl you’ll have to alter your ways. You stole my love You stole my love So that’s the way it’s gonna be because we’re all through now, That’s the way it’s gonna be I’m telling you now, I could never be the same because we’re all through now, Every girl will have her name, I’m telling you now. I know I’ll never stand the strain, The pain that’s driving me half insane, I cannot help what I can do, Life is not content its not with you, I’m holding you by night & day, I‘ll toss and turn and inside I‘ll pray, A pride that no one can define, I’ll never leave you ‘til you’re mine, You stole my love, You stole my love, You stole my love.

I vaguely recall hearing The Mockingbirds version on some LP with various artists on it. I, too, think this version by Mike Furber and The Bowery Boys is better. Do any videos show the group as well? They sound good. Maybe it was a similar situation as with Billy J. Kramer; The Dakotas were pushed into the background.

Looks like an ABC Australia Production. Mike made his TV debut on the ATVO/10 show ( Now 10 Network) Kommotion hosted by Ken Sparkes and this is not from that show. The girls adored Mike and his sad early passing was Australias loss
