Season 3 Episode 9 (Life Is Art) features the one and only living legend that is Mike GLC. It was a pleasure to finally get to give Mike his well deserved flowers and as he’s a man that doesn’t like to talk to anyone really nowadays, we appreciate that he came and had a great reasoning. He explains that he has a film on it’s way based around his life, so understandably we only skimmed through his upbringing and what led him to become such an influential rapper in the UK industry. We learned about what it was like growing up in care outside London and how it helped shape him into the man he is today. Mike shared many gems and broke down the street team situation which saw them sell hundreds of thousands of mixtapes up and down the country. Having had a great reasoning with lots of banter and real talk, we then put him through the’RTM Fire Round’. ‘Current Affairs’ included the Kanye West situation and other recent news and the main subject was ‘Life Is Art’. The ‘RTM Dilemma’ and ‘Book Suggestion’ closed the show as usual. With Spray and Mike sharing a good friendship for years, based on mutual respect and understanding, the conversation was organic and unforced. Essential viewing. Choong family are an underappreciated force and movement in UK hip hop, it is a shame they did not have greater success. "Adrenaline" and "Monologue for the thoughts" demonstrated their versality. Mike GLC collabed with Choong Family on the song "Solitude". A-Fix in particular stood out in the group, the way he interweaved his story in slick bars. Plus, A-Fix grew up in Hackney, it would be dope if you could get him on, through the grapevine I heard A-Fix now teaches youths.
