Because of the upgrades in efficiency and because the tree huggers think that our entire society is switching to completely electric devices like Tesla's and Heat pumps. But our grids do not produce enough electricity to support that kind of load in any major city. Now they have HP's up to I believe around 13 HSPF2 and 20 SEEER2.

Because USA is far behind on its technology application . Hell, developing countries have it all figured out more than here. Was shocking to see inverter technology is not used here as it is back in the Caribbean.

Code now requires a whole house surge protector. Anyone with today's new electronics who does not have a whole house surge protector is a nut. At less than $150 plus one hour labor they are a necessity...

small footprint, good price, quiet, thermostat agnostic, keeps consistent temperatures, great in dry climates but terrible at moisture extraction, all for the same reasons...

The new Bosch IDS 2.0 and IDS 2.1 are 100% efficient down to -5 Degrees Fahrenheit. It is not like the old heat pumps...

The best combo is an air -air heatpump (an A.C) with a wood stove. My wood stove is the most reliable heating device ever and I only use it when temps are freezing cold. My AC is super efficient and consumes 6 times less power than a regular electrical resistor device

@@balokurd17 The best combination is Dual-fuel that is a high-efficiency Heat pump and a high-efficiency natural gas furnace for a much warmer home during the cold snaps and when electricity is on peak. This particular Bosch is decent but there are many competitors that could be seen and rated higher. This is a 20 SEER2 AC. My AC is SEER2 24 and HP is 10.5 HSPF2 with a 98% modulating furnace and VCA blower motor.

Bosch IDS sucks, Trane XV Variable speed systems are far superior.
