Mike Huffer Sculpture Fabrication

Doug and Mike collaborated on a sculpture that required cutting and folding a circle from 1/4 inch plate steel. The groove that facilitated the fold was welded and ground to form a sharp edge on the back side of the finished sculpture.

Marking the spots where the press brake would need to line up was a smart move. What do you use the Blanchard grinder for? That seems like an unusual shop addition to me, more suitable for a specialty shop, but maybe you are one??

No plasma cutter or is oxy acetylene a more advantageous choice for some reason?

The goal was to produce a live edge that has a bit of an organic feel, so the choice was primarily aesthetic. We did not grind the edge.
