A truly great movie....Timothy Spall is an amazing character actor, he excels with his interpretation of Turner. I am a painter myself and I can now better understand how other people comprehend the craziness and obsessions that most artist's express. I have watched it through, three times... each time even more of the story evolved for me... it's an extraordinary movie.... a winner all the way.

Spall wasn't in High Hopes. Perhaps you're thinking of Life is Sweet? The dude has range and is always brilliant.

I am a painter myself and I was disgusted with this awful representation of the great artist Turner as an uncouth and ugly fat being where did the director get his information from how dare he show the great artist like this?

Yes...well..curious remark...and why was Turner depicted as an arrogant, unkempt, stumpy oaf...was there elegance? Mike Leigh may be.imposing his degraded stamp..as ignorance or presumption that to be a great painter there needs be some sort of repulsion counter weight.
