Hi Mike Kenny LaMar here. So glad that you and Mark have been performing again. I have been a long, long fan of you guys since the early eighties. I can't remember if you came with the band in the mid eighties at a club called Parkers in Seattle Washington were I live. I had turned on a lot of my friends and musicians to come and hear you guys. The show was fantastic. I was playing in a funk R&B band on the road and out of no where someone came up to me and asked if I've ever heard of Level 42.

I told him, I did not at the time. He gave me a recording of you guys and one of the songs I listen to was The Chinese Way while I was traveling back home from a long road trip. I listen to you guys tape for miles and miles and was blown away with the sound and musicianship of Level 42. I wish you guys would come back over here again. It would be such a treat. Would also love for you to check out a couple of my smooth funk jazz tunes. Take care Mike.

Mike, you're a legend and Level 42 is one of my favorite bands, since 1981 really (and I'm 51 now). Great to see you here on YT, spreading your musical knowledge and your love of music in general. And I'm a subscriber now as well ;)

Came across this almost by accident by looking for "Silence", one of the big songs of my late teens with Mike doing the vocals. Good to see you're still working hard Mr Lindup, one of the key parts of the band who were a big influence on my life. Cheers for all the great music and all the best to you. And I'm not even a keyboard pervert. :-)

My best friend Dan was a massive fan of Mike Lindup. He achieved Grade 8 in piano, but had a very big feel for his electronic Yamaha and used to play it in his house himself up until lately. He grew up with me in the 1980's liking Level 42, OMD and The Pet Shop Boys. He was my best friend, and could sit at any piano in any pub and play "Piano Man" by Billy Joel. That is not easy! Unfortunately, he committed suicide 3 years ago, and left a daughter. I think that his favourite keyboard work of yours would be of your choice Mike...

You seem as nice a person as you are talented. Level 42: the bass, the songs, the backing vocals! Were the 80s special or is it just me? How amazing is youtube that I can perhaps connect with someone I so admired.

In my teenage years I would sit 6 inches from the screen to get a glimpse of the keyboards any band was playing on Top of the Pops et al. To get a tour led by the musician is very special. Thank you Mike!

Hi Matt! The MacBook Pro is running the sequences (audio) with sounds from TX802, D550, Fantom , Juno etc that Mark programs. Used to run live from an Akai 4000, and before that older Akai sequencers & Yamaha units.

Keyboard Geek Heaven! This was the same setup that they used for their North American tour 2 years ago, though I think he used an Akai MPC instead of a laptop as the sequencer.

Mike, I came across your channel today and its made my year! I have been a big fan from about '85. Although my studio budget dosen't quite stretch to a DSI P8 yet, I am into his stuff (having been inspired by you and the P5 many moons ago). I do actually use a Yamaha KX88 midi controller which I rescued from going to a dump!!!! The previous owner didn't like it and was gonna throw it! It takes centre stage in my studio now, as a nod to the Wembley 88 gig you put out on video (i still have that)

Hi Mike, I'm from Holand. So nice to meet you here and your keyboard setup. I studied keyboards/piano at the conservatory of music. And ever since the early 80's your my biggest influence. Most people and bands that i play music with always say that i'm a copy of Mike Lindup. For me thats not strange because i studied your playingstyle since i started to play keyboards. I'm still happy to see that you still use your Dyno My Rhodes piano. This is really the best Rhodes you can have. There were different models through the years but the percussion pedal model that you have is really a rare one and difficult to find these days. Chances are that if you find a second hand one it will probably out of adjustment and you need a dyno tech like Chuck Monte to make it sound like a new Dyno again.Do you also use the percussion pedal option live? With the knee lever underneat the piano you can move the harp that changes the sound. No other Dyno Rhodes has this option. Im a dyno fanatic and love these pianos and its bright percussive and more direct sound. We also have a facebook page about the Dyno My Pianos. Well Mike,, keep up the good work and i love and wish to hear from some time.. Kind regards,,

Hi Mike. Fan from way back in the 80's till now in the states. Really cool to see that your Rhodes piano is still going well. In the song Sirens you've all just recorded, is that the old Prophet V that can be heard or the 8? Thanks.

Hi Mike, Do you remember where the clavi sound came from on Something about you? Almost everyone said DX7 but I owned one and got nothing close. However the Prophet 5 has almost identical preset so I'm convinced that was used for that sound (and use the left wheel to adjust and switch the sound). Wally couldn't remember anymore so I wonder if you remember and how you create that sound now. Thanks, Luke

Hi Mike. Thank you for sharing your keyboards! For years have a been a big fan of your music style of playing. Level 42 is my favorite band. I'm a keyboardist as well. I have a several Roland rack mounts (U220, JV880, and XV5050). Have you ever played any of these before? If so, what are some of your favorite sounds or patches?
