Mike is still my favorite keyboardist. While he’s totally an accomplished classical and jazz musician, he really shines with these beautiful melodies, whether they be lead or support, they’re always just warm, bright, and lively. His sounds speak to me more than words. Thank you so much for being yourself and giving yourself to all of us.

Level 42, for me easily the most important band of the 1980's! Mike is a legend and a fabulous player. together with Mark they are the 2 key parts to the 42 sound!

Dear Mr. Lindup, your sound and playing style on the Fender Rhodes and your synths was one of the most important reasons i fell in love with playing keyboards and especially the Rhodes piano at the age of 14 or 15, more than 30 years ago. Since then the i called about six of them my own... You still have the magic - thank you for your inspiration and for this video.

i love the sound of your Rhodes Mike and the parametric eq is a great addition to have fitted. I bought my mk 1 73 back in 85 and have recently just had it recovered and serviced. These instruments all seem to have their own character and play differently so good ones can be hard to find, all the best and thanks for sharing.

I love these videos that take a "backstage" look at the rigs used in gigs. As a fellow keyboard player and falsetto vocalist, Mike Lindup was someone I looked up to, and one of the eighties greats. The Chinese Way and Love Games were such great tracks from the perspective of what the keyboards are doing.

Brian Shensky I’ve owned 2 mk1s - a suitcase and a stage - they were lovely, but for various reasons I had to sell. I use the iLectric VST now on an iPad, with an 88 key weighted mother kbd, which is pretty good, with some nice EP sounds - but it’s not the same as a mk1 Rhodes!

OMG thanks for replying! You and Jan were the main reasons I wanted to play keyboard since the 80s. I started with guitar shortly after that but a few months ago I bought my first not too expensive midi-controller/keyboard with Cubase and some plugins to see if i would like it. I'm absolutely in love with it now. Especially with the oldschool sounds like the Rhodes and some Juno-60. You are a huge inspiration and thank you for everything!
