Oh, Lord I'm on a permanent holiday I'm going outside to play I ain't gonna slave away Not for no corporate Babylon I'm never gonna be a pawn In their manipulation games Oh, Lord I'm taking the reins I'm breaking the chains I'm never gonna kneel, no way My prophet is Heaven sent No preacher or president can lead I astray They'll never know I'm taking Jah highway home Oh, I've got my own path to follow Don't know if you'll overstand I've got my, my, my own truth to swallow And you know that if I could You know I would throw my guitar on my back Pick up the slack, and leave here tomorrow But I know that I am a pawn of Babylon I got to face the facts, embrace the ax And cut these chains off my sorrow So I'm on a permanent holiday I'm going outside to play I ain't gonna slave away, no Not for no corporate babylon I'm never gonna be a pawn In their manipulation games Ten thousand years of captivity We must eventually open up our eyes and see They're manipulating we with so much uncertainty And so many mysteries Why are so few questioning the unnatural state of things? It's a nightmare We're living in a nightmar Everyone's living so scared They're virtually unaware Of this fear that rules their lives Occupies, consumes their minds This fear of bankruptcy Financial impotancy It's funny money, money, money It's all this digital currency, woah, yeah It's all this monopoly money That keeps us from ever being free, ooh-oh-yaeh And so it seems we'll be in this prison for life 'Cause if we keep buying then they'll keep selling the lie So it's up to I and I I... nip..., mind... and... I'm leaving the past And forwarding fast 'Cause freedom is here to stay Oh, Lord we got to take back the knowledge We got to take back the power We got to take back the knowledge We got to take back the power, oh-yeah We got to take back the knowledge To take back the power Take back what they have stolen from our hearts And we got to take back the esoteric knowledge Oh, Lord for too long they've been keeping us apart Oh yes, we got to take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour We got to take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour Take back the knowledge Take back the power Humanity don't let this be our final hour We got take back the knowledge Take back the power

I just want to say that i found this song while 2 tabs into an acid trip 6 months ago and because of this songs message, I completely dropped my shopping addiction, stopped using cocaine, quit drinking, quit all my toxic friends, quit my social media addiction, and stopped eating nothing but fast food. I listen to this often to remind myself of what matters. We all know how to be happy, we just have a hard time applying it to our lives. I've never been happier and healthier. Thank you for the amazing music and powerful message, dude. Take back your knowledge, friends.

@@based3052 I cringed so hard dude, you wouldn't believe it dude, I cringed, everything's so cringe. But I don't realize that I'm very insecure about my own self and my own identity, so when I say something else is cringe it's because I'm experiencing secondhand embarrassment because I put myself in their situation, because I have a lot of empathy because overall I'm a very sensitive kid. But when I feel real emotions I wanna fight that off because I don't want to feel like I'm a good person! But deep down I really am because maybe, maybe, there's an intrinsic value to who I am bro, not just because my cock is huge, but because I'm a human being who has good morals. But fuck all that bro! Let's watch the cringe compilations broooo!

I saw him in Phoenix but he was the opener for a Hawaiian band. Nobody seemed to know him (I didn't know the headliner either) and everyone started screaming during the looping part :( then it was in the recording so every loop had idiots screaming CHEEEE HOOOOO. The disrespect was painful since Mike's music means so very much to me! I got to meet him after his set though!

I don't know if everyone realizes how fucking amazing this is!!! Man, it's a great tune by itself, but seriously, can you realize how difficult this song is musically speaking? I consider myself a commiteted musician but I can tell that I not even close to the level of this guy. He sings in absolutely perfect pitch some odd melodies, do crazy octave jumps, record tons of overdubs live and not only is not static (and let's be fair, it would be acceptable because of all the concentration required to do all this stuff), but can still deliver a lot of emotion in his singing. Great tunes and and outstanding musician. I became an admirer.

My thoughts exactly! I'm a musician myself and don't think the majority of people can grasp just how difficult it is to juggle all the effects and loop pedals he's using, and then to sing and play guitar the way he does. I get goose bumps watching this video every time, I'm honestly in awe of this dude!

This. Is. Amazing. Totally. Mind. Blown. He is taking reggae to another level with this song. I mean technically, it's insane. That splitting up words into small snippets were too much to comprehend, hehe. Wow. Not the biggest reggae listener but this man might change my views upon the genre. And no, please do not hate on me, I might hype it too much, but yeah... this is THAT good.

I chant the middle part of this song as a mantra most days...but man, I needed to feel it in all its vibrations today apparently, got me leaking like sieve just as it did my first time hearing it. The lyrics are as deep and heavy with relevance as they were 13 years ago...that's encouraging in itself, we made it then, we're gonna make it again. Thank you, Mike Love, your lyrics are a beacon of light helping guide me through the darkness. I wont be manipulated, mind controlled or inundated, I will seek the revelation, make my life a celebration, I will be the change I'm seeking, manifest the words I'm speaking. I refuse to be imprisoned, I will make my own decisions.. What a blessing these words have been, much love!

Sam Ites on percussion doesn't get as much credit next to Mike Love, but he did an amazing job, too. It's easy to mess up a piece with the wrong percussion. Excellent minimal use of snare and cymbals for accent, his hand percussion is on point, and he provides a second voice in the right spots while keeping the beat. Credit where due.

That's because it's still relevant! We still haven't taken back our power! We still get our knowledge from mainstream parasites! This song will remind the future generation of the freedom we once had! The NWO is coming! Cherish these moments because they will eventually be taken from you! Speak out of line and you will be punished! Keep paying your taxes to fund wars that nobody wants and line the pockets of the minority that continue to tell us how to live our lives! When will we say enough is enough! Billions are treated like sheep and not like an intelligent lifeform that exists because of this beautiful planet! Look at all the brain-dead zombies chasing money! These parasites are killing you, your family and life as we know it, all because they are told that money is why they are here! The collapse needs to happen! Watch all the weak get what they deserve! Watch them beg for something they neglected! Money isn't natural but so many blindly worship it! They choose an ideology over the gift of life! I'm trying not to get angry! Fight fire with fire and we all get burnt! Money is a religion! Look at us! What a pathetic waste of life! There is nothing more important than the gift of life! Now look at us! Mike love is bringing us back to our roots!

Amazing, talented performers. Fantastic performance; top quality song and a really important message... I can't help but notice the irony of a guy singing about being on a permanent holiday and eschewing money, but performing with equipment worth thousands of dollars in a plush apartment on a Persian rug... How do you propose we get those pedals and drums if we stop buying... ??? Nevertheless, great music, very powerful and inspirational tunes. Keep it up Mike Love and accompanying drummer.

The place isn't his; he was invited there to perform a set. The place was rented by Hi-Sessions. He doesn't have a day job. All his equipment will have been bought using the money he's earned from performing and selling his own art. Yes, money's still involved, but it's not wage slavery if you enjoy what you do. Lastly, he's not saying to stop buying; he's saying to stop working in a job you don't enjoy where you live for the one week a year when you get to go on holiday. The best advice I've ever been given was to do only that which I enjoy and stubbornly refuse to do anything else. Personally, it's worked out pretty well. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video too. My mind is blown by how good this is!

Oh Lord, I’m on a permanent holiday I’m going outside to play I ain’t gonna slave away Not for no corporate Babylon I’m never gonna be a pawn in their manipulation games Oh Lord I’m taking the reins I’m breaking the chains I’m never gonna kneel, no way My prophet is Heaven sent No preacher or president can lead I astray They’ll never know I’m taking Jah highway home Oh I’ve got my own path to follow Don’t know if you’ll overstand I’ve got my own truth to swallow And you know that if I could you know I would throw my guitar on my back, pick up the slack, and leave here tomorrow But I know that I am a pawn of Babylon I got to face the facts, embrace the axe, and cut these chains off my sorrow So I’m on a permanent holiday I’m going outside to play I ain’t gonna slave away, no, not for no corporate babylon I’m never gonna be a pawn in their manipulation games Ten thousand years of captivity We must eventually Open up our eyes and see They’re manipulating we With so much uncertainty And so many mysteries Why are so few questioning The unnatural state of things? It’s a nightmare We’re living in a nightmare Everyone’s living so scared They’re virtually unaware Of this fear that rules their lives Occupies, consumes their minds This fear of bankruptcy Financial impotancy It’s funny money, money, money It’s all this digital currency, woah yeah It’s all this monopoly money That keeps us from ever being free And so it seems we’ll be in this prison for life ’cause if we keep buying then they’ll keep selling the lie So it’s up to I and I… Ohh Lord, I won’t be manipulated, mind-controlled, and inundated I will seek the Revelation, make my life a celebration I will be the change I’m seeking, manifest the words I’m speaking I refuse to be imprisoned. I will make my own decisions I’m on a permanent holiday I’m going outside to play I ain’t gonna slave away Not for no corporate babylon I’m never gonna be a pawn in their manipulation games Oh Lord I’m taking the reins I’m breaking the chains I’m never gonna kneel, no way My prophet is Heaven sent No preacher or president can lead I astray They’ll never know. Yeah. He builds out 2/3rds of it. First syllable, second syllable and then he builds the harmony on each syllable which ends up being a chord on each. Then once that's built, he does the third syllable. It's really clever and well done.

it's better than the studio version. might be longer, too.

It's longer because live he's recording all those harmony parts once at a time into a loop pedal whereas in the studio they're all added quicker. Pretty impressive.

I saw him do this live 3 times... he does it just as well. One was a solo show and he did a bunch of songs with his looper. Just amazing. I met him and gave him a big hug twice during the festival. He walked around with his band and talked to everyone. He spent nearly 2 hours after his show meeting and taking time to talk to everyone that wanted to meet him, got pictures with him and his band. Just truly an amazing person. Mike Love is a real dude with healing intentions

Vergonzoso.

Discovered them live at the smallest festival in the SouthWest of France a few years back. It started raining and the sound guys tried to tell them they had to interrupt. They went on, the rain was falling gently and the sun peered through as he went on to finish this song. It was mystical ! Really nice dude as well had a group hug with my friends and all, it was the best musical experience I'd ever had
