Mike Love uses a large looping pedal-board to incorporate voice samples and guitar work with a heavy bass presence into his lively acoustic performance. He makes true roots reggae, channeling his legends to write music that’s freeing and personal, but with a message of radical peace buried within. Love is classically trained on piano and writes his traditional tales with careful song construction.

He's actually not whistling. He's singing and uses a sound effect to make it sound like a whistle. My guess would be an octave splitter. I know because I asked him myself when I talked to him after one of his concerts. He also didn't hold that last note that long at the end.
