hahaha "Dead tea bags!". I can feel you. Is there secret class in "Kindergarten" exclusivly for girls, where they teach them "no, no, do not put your used tea bags directly to the garbage bin. Present them! Ideal on the most exponated point of the kitchen table, so your husband has to see them!. Make sure it is at least 3!. A little mold? It doesn.t matter it makes them even more valuable. Keep in mind it is a gift!"

Like you I cut the elements as suggested, absolutely fine. Initially with just a few radials the 10m SWR dip was a little LF but all fine now.

I made the mistake of tightening the clamps right over the joint of each section. I wish Callum would have specified this and so far you’re on the only person on KZbin who has pointed this out. I am using the new clamps and the antenna has been up for about 2 months. Wondering if I should take it down and reposition them or just say screw it. Thanks for the detailed video. Probably the most helpful yet it doesn’t show up in the search algorithm.

its a you tube algorithm thing, I stopped uploading for around 4 months as I was away working and KZbin rewarded me... lol

Hi Mike, a bit off topic but I messaged you via Discord regarding G5RV and feeder radiation. FWIW many small screwdriver sets with the he drives include small sockets, they are great for avoiding over tightening on some of these fittings 73

Soler joints can over time become dry joints due to the outdoor environment. I think silver solder would be a better option.

Mike could you please tell me what the mounting pole is made of please ie metal or plastic. Cheers

Hi, with this setup how many radials did you put down and what lengths please, I have a very small garden and am looking at the classic or rapids for multi band. Thanks
@mike-M0MSN2 жыл бұрын
Hi, there are 32 radials ranging from 5 m to 15 m in length, most are 5m however you can use 3m long ones if you put down enough of them, I have just the one 15m radial as that is just enough to balance my 80 element. The truth is that you can put as many or as little as needed to balance the antenna, and in any direction along the ground they do not need to be 360deg around the base if you only have 90deg or 180deg it will still work.

Great video as always Mike, I'm waiting on Callum to release the 9.5 sig as I need a self supporting pole due to the location I have in the garden. I noticed on your vid that you are using a GF support pole. Is that a GF handrail? if so, how do you find it supporting the Classic?

32mm Glassfibre pole, and it is brilliant at holding the DXC pole. Five years on and still perfect.
@James_Bowie2 жыл бұрын
Does that yellow mounting pole have any noticeable effect on the elements on any band?
@mike-M0MSN2 жыл бұрын
Nope, it is Glassfibre.

Thank you for this. Mine was up for 4 years. Put the 12.4 up and going back to the classic. I hate the guys. I wish I could could compare the two. I don’t see any difference in performance here. Maybe it’s just me.

@@mike-M0MSN this may help. My guy ropes are only about 15 feet away if it helps. You have a fence on one side. Takes care of one guy. It can be done. Remember these words. “ sorry honey “ “but honey “. They are useful. Besides you can tell her it’s for science. After all , you are the best builder on KZbin , I’d love to see the difference if any.

Mike will the DX Commander handle the full 1500 watts allowed on some of the bands?
@mike-M0MSN2 жыл бұрын
The wire has been tested to 1500W key down for 1 min on 20 metres I believe, that said you will need wire thimbles if you are going to go there. see the DXC website.
@RC-Heli8352 жыл бұрын
@@mike-M0MSN I won't be doing 1500 watts anytime soon. Do you have a favorite antenna out of all the ones you've built or bought! Thanks! I always enjoy your videos.
