I have a set of these and they are great .. On one occasion the blank came off the tennon about 3/4 way through through. Well i didn't know it for quite a while but it bent the medium blade. I kept trying to finish the cut and ended up with my first funnel. 16 inch bowl of poplar. I accidently set the blades beside each other in a stack by size and noticed the medium blade was sticking up out of line with the others. I ordered a new replacement and back in business. I did try to straighten the bent one ...close but no cigar. Thanks Mike.

Very generous of you to publish this on KZbin. I have some of your DVDs, but not this one. Also have McNaughton and I appreciate the many tips you share here. That wiggle action is one invaluable example. And watching and changing direction in mid core. And the tips at the end. A master class in the use of a versatile system by a serious production bowl turner. (Btw, awesome pile of shavings at the end demo -- looks like a hamster cage). Thank you, Greg

Mike you are the GOAT! I just bought a used (very little used) KM coring system here in Germany (got lucky on eBay) and I was nervous to take the plunge, so to speak! ;-P I learned sooooo much from this video...know I'll be watching it again! Many many thanks for making this available. I am curious, when you core a blank this way, you are using fresh wood, right? Some of those burls have so many bowls in the set--is the surface finish from the coring cut so good? some of them seem too thin to even clean up with a gouge... Or do you clean up only the very bottom of the inside, and then flip it to remove that baby-tenon? Warm regards, Amy

Mike usually cores green or freshly cut wood, but on natural edge burl pieces, they can be dry.

thanks for excellent tutorial. What diameter is bolt that is on latest versions of tool rest? seems like something one should add to older versions.
