Here we visit Mike May, former owner of XK's Unlimited, to see his 1950 Jaguar XK120 Alloy OTS 670088 and 1950 Jaguar XK120 Alloy OTS 670110. We fit the early Lucas C45PVS with the tinned field case to 670088.
We then pour over Michael's lifelong collection of early XK parts not limited to Side Curtain Assembly BD3372 BD3373, C1430 Lighter Cigar Owls Eye, C2523 Lighter Cigar, PF770 BD4834 Bracket and Clip, Headlamp PF770, Lucas 490 C2751 Sidelamp, C2838 Number Plate Illumination and Reverse Lamp, C3035 Newton Bennett Shock Absorbers, Idle Lever Assembly C3949 RHD, Windscreen Side Pillars BD3800 BD3801, Center PiIllar Hook BD3239.

Cool stuff! We have my father-in-law's 1952 XK120 FHC, beautiful car w/old school black lacquer paint and red leather interior with original wood burl dash, fresh 3.4L engine & trans, sold from Hornburg Jaguar in Dec. 1951 according to the official info sheet on the car. Pop wanted us to have his car, he gave it to us a few months before he passed away in 2020(cancer, not covid)at age 92. This car is a pleasure to drive other than the fact it's overall too small for my 6'5" frame to get in and out of easily. It has won 3 trophies so far this year alone being shown with American classic hot rods and the like. Thanks man!

Not sure what it says about me, but I just spent over an hour and a half looking at obscure Jaguar parts I will never come in contact with, or ever need. Thoroughly enjoyable visit with Mike and his brace of 120's. Can appreciate the bare alloy car even more now that I am currently watching aluminum panel fabricating series over on Chris Runge's channel. Richard, suggest bringing a bib for next visit, you were drooling all over those parts bins!

Richard, thanks for taking us along on your visit to see Mike's lovely alloy XK120's. Man, what Mike doesn't know about XK's is not worth knowing. Glad to see your E type out stretching it's legs, they were made to run.

Hi Richard. Well there's no doubt you were in XK heaven ! And your host was more than happy to share his treasure troves . I was priviledged to restore Lotus Cortinas for my boss and he was the worlds afficando of these cars . I see a complete parallel with Mike's passion . Trevor had an accumilation of spares that were in perfect harmony with Mikes . These people are worth their weight in gold . I visited this part of the world in 1997 and stayed with my late Aunt in Gig Harbor .lt certainly is a beautiful part of America. Thanks Richard and thankyou Mr. May ......an honor and a priviledge Sir .

Unbelievable collection of spares imaginable! Admire the US interest in these wonderful cars! All this happening at the factory almost within site of where I lived aged about 4 !

I couldn't pull myself away from this video, even though I barely know the difference from a flathead and Phillips screw. Those 120s are amazingly beautiful and Mike is an absolute wealth of knowledge. @RMO: Thanks for the ride in the E. She's running great and sounds fabulous!

Awesome video Richard. Must have been hard to sleep after the information you have taken on .I hope Mike May gives you first refusal on his parts bins when it's time to continue his legacy of knowledge and pass this on to a bonified Jaguar lover.

Interesting to see the right angle brackets in the bag of hardware. I restore factory hardtops for MGBs, Healeys, etc. The aluminum side window extrusions on the MGB tops are held together by similar brackets fastened with 18 very small screws like the ones Mike was showing you in this video. Since no one sells or makes the brackets anymore I have resorted to cutting the angle brackets out of 2x2 inch aluminum right-angle stock then drilling and tapping threads where needed. You can imagine how tedious that can be! Thanks for another great inside look at restorations.

Great that you drive and appreciate your cars. Arriving at Mikes the flag set just the right kind of intro/tone for the walk around. Totally on point. LHD alloy bodied production Chassis were numbered 670001-670184 built until 12 April 1950. RHD production Chassis were numbered 660001-660058 built until 1 May 1950. NZ received cars 660009 and 660019. Info thanks to Brian Watsons book Jaguar racing in New Zealand. Very well researched publication. That horn you found. I have one similar. A Lucas at top with the outer ring in chrome with peaked dome nuts chromed. It has no p/n but the word ALTETTE stamped at lower. It appears Mike has a wide range of parts i assume are available to assist further restorations. Maybe worldwide?

Richard, what a wonderful day you had. I am the same and could be digging through all those boxes all day. Especially when you are in need of some things on top the Alu body is something you do not see every day. You are blessed with all those XK's and XKE delivered ned to the US. Why not ask Mike Mueller for a visit. Have been there years ago and was flashed. Would be worth a try and certainly most spectacular.

Hi RIchard I have been a Jaguar enthusiast for a very long time and I have many models XK120, MK7, MK 2, MK10 and XKE DHC and FHC XJ6 serie 1 1969. Could you tell me if I can mount rear brake on my Jaguar XKE 3.8 from 1963? brake of an xj6. Congratulations again for your work and that of your father thanks in advance Daniel From FRANCE

Hi Daniel, XJ6 has a different offset so they are not bolt-on.

Don't forget to put back the overflow pipeon #88. It would look fabulous in bare metal, polished like an aircraft. I suspect that some of the variationsin the old parts represented the opinions of different foremen. British "plans" tended to be more a collection of hints to the knowledgable than precise, complete instructions. Too much detail might be interpreted as insulting.
