Amazing. It’s almost a carbon copy. There seems to be more distorted guitars than the original.

Thanks. Funny you should mention about it being a carbon copy: I have a SoundCloud channel, they are usually perfectly happy with my posting covers, but when I posted this it was taken down immediately, because the bots thought it was the original version. I raised an objection but once again I don't think my objection got further than a bot. The electric guitars in the middle section are the most un-lifelike parts; I really could not get them to sound right. Presumably the bots did not listen to that part.

Really well played. The mastering was a bit too bright though.

Thanks. Yeah I tweaked the mastering quite a bit after I uploaded the video, sadly YT doesn't allow you to replace video or audio on content you've already uploaded, I guess for all the right reasons but sometimes it's a pain not being able to make a few post production tweaks having heard it through fresh ears.

Jon, excellent work! What Logic instrument do you use to get the SH2000 sound at the beginning, other than missing a bit of vibrato it's spot on...and I have never found a close match?

Hi, I used the Retro Synth. The sound is basically just a square wave with very minimal attack, full decay and very short release. Thank you for the kind comments. I realised I was pretty close because Shazam thinks it's the original song until you get to the guitar section!

Ah, thanks, I've only just made the leap to Logic X so haven't really explored Retro Synth. I was using a square wave patch on the ES2 which was passable enough. If you had a minute it would be great if you could mail me the .pst file... n i c m u s i c "at" me.com. Cheers and happy Oldfield covering (check out my Incantations)
